My Golf currently automatically closes any windows when the car is locked. I was just wondering how this is done. Im trading it in for a Civic and was wondering if this could be done myself with the new car.
You can get it done with some alarms, so when you press the alarm key fob it will put the windows up and do the central locking. So really any car with electric windows and one of these alarms it can be done.
I guess if it has electric windows that let you push the button for the right length of time / a bit harder and make the window go all the way up / all the way down....
then you could just wire a relay in so the relay is powered up by the central locking motor of the passenger door so it puts power to the "all the way up" buttons for the electric windows ?
need to do it though a relay so you dont keep locking the doors every time you put your windows up !
actually... now i think about it.... Id do this to my car if i wasnt selling it !
Theres a little gremlin that sits underneath the glass in each door. They feed off of wireless signals, so when you lock the car they grow in size, pushing the window up.
any total closure alarm system can do it, but tbh a shed load of new cars have this feature anyway, hell my 13 year old calibra has it.. admittedly i have to put the key in the door as its not got remote locking but it closes the windows.
If its not a standard feature on the civics then there maybe a retro fit auto closure unit available. Might be worth checking on a few Honda forums. Or as others have stated, certain alarm kits will do it :)
