I was talking about this at the weekend with some friends. Whats to stop someone investing in their own clamp, parking somewhere dodgy then clamping their own car to prevent or fool it being clamped by anyone else?

Because the towe away guys would come and take it away thinking one of the other guys must have done it? You would probably have to whip up a fake company ticket stuck to your window too so they knew another company had done it :)

Some people have their own wheel clamps as a form of high visibility deterrent against thieves. There are no easily visible road markings so these may be the drivers securing their vehicles.

There are many designs and I believe most companies can identify their own. Only one company will operate in a given area so it would be fairly obvious its not theirs. They then simply clamp one of the other wheels.

apparently...

QuoteThey are quatari royal family cars, they own Harrods now, which the cars are parked outside of
considering the car in front costs well over a million £s I think they choose wisely
parked outside their own store, £60 -£100 for clamp release fee and the cars cant be stolen
If I had their money I;d rather pay that every day than park the car in some cr@ppy car park god knows how many miles away

They have valet parking anyway at Harrods. This was a clear cut publicity stunt from what Ive gathered.

If you had that kind of money you would pay someone else to drive you to work, and wont need a space to park your car :P

I have always fancied being clamped tbh. instead of paying the release fee, I would be off down the nearest tool hire place and use the money to hire a petrol angle grinder for a couple of hours  :yarr:
