Title: bmw 330
Post by: knighty on July 25, 2008, 01:51:04 AM
anyone driven a 3 litre 3 series bm ?

bored of mine now (Ive had it longer than any other car!)

cant see much about that I like... thinking about just getting a newer one...

would prefer a diesel (just because I like them) but might as well go with petrol tbh, I do naff all miles (4k a year maybe) so its not really worth the extra £2k for a diesel !

or any thoughts on a different 3 series....?

get a 330i and get her converted to LPG

the 330d is a good motor too, my mum had one for a while. theyre punchy and go great once remapped.

But why bother when you can get a LPG conversion on the 330i and it sounds so much better

But really

Youd be mad to not get an audi with the V6 biturbo engine

And get it LPGd too

They will do 400bhp on standard internals

Ive driven my friends 330Ci M Sport, and its fantastic!! His is a 54 plate, so is the facelift model. I want to get rid of my 320D as I dont do the miles really to warrent a diesel.......so Im looking for a 325Ci Sport, as its a bit cheaper all round than the 330Ci. But they wont give me enough for mine trade in, so im going to have to wait :(  As for the 330 though, I think theyre brilliant.

DONT GET A BMW 3 SERIES! Theyre common and the wheels look like casters.

Ford Mondeo ftw!

Same as this (http://www.gumtree.com/posting_images/60/24058760__1211274007__1__1-aa9a20b1bbd2a2b473657977fbcea9a0.__big__.jpg)

Audis are boring, the design briefs must have "dont make it look too interesting" in big grey letters.

depends on what I get... I dont want to spend a lot only to have it sitting in the garage 90% of the time depreciating... if I get something modern I was thinking about 4k ?

tho Ive also been looking around at some classic cars... which Im thinking should (pretty much) take the depreciation out of the equation, so Id say 20k or maybe a bit more for the right car... I quite like E-Type jags and 60s/70s Aston martins (V8 etc)... the only problem with a classic is that I dont really have the time to look after one or take care of it like it really should be.

I might nip into the local BMW garage and see if I can take a 300i and a 330D out for a spin...

(wont be buying from them tho, much prefer buy privately where I can haggle to much more effect!)

My boss has got a 525 with that auto box, he loves everything except the circa 20 mpg.

^^

thats why Ive got the diesel at the moment, I used to do loads of (flat out) motorway miles.... but thats pretty rare now!

tho it was nice to finish work at 6pm drive to Liverpool for a gig and then get back home in time to order a pizza !

I say go with Audi, just for the fact its a little different from a Beemer.

Or a Ovlov S70.

Octavia VRS maybe? But a bit high on the insurance group, I think its 18.

Tho the general conception of the Audi driver is what was seen of the BMW driver, complete and utter c**ts.

Yes you go and say what top gear tells you, theres a good boy :hunf:

Almost as bad as when they smoked pipes, then suddenly people run out to buy a pipe to be cool and unexpected

Audis are nice cars, have a look at Mercs too, my dad has a c220 which is a very comfy mile muncher, auto box too :)

Its true tho.

The general conception is that, I see more Audis that BMWs flying by on the motorway. You dont always have to have a unique opinion, Mr. Im Such a Unique Individual. ;)

Sorry Poison, I shouldnt have come across quite so terse.

With that said, any rep mobile be it Audi, BMW, Mercedes is going to get tarred with the same brush, theres no point in singling out one as the choice of a wanker.

go find a dark corner and have a word with yourself.

S5, new S3, RS4, new RS6, Q7,

what youll find is that there isnt an Audi that isnt trying to be something its not. S4 is just a souped up A4. RS4 is the beast it looks like.
I dont particularly care what people think of me based around the car i drive or how i drive it, if i did i wouldnt have been driving a golf rallye at the age of 31.

Audis are old man spec, full of toys and really easy to drive, which just means when you get one with a loud pedal worth using, its that bit more fun when you do.

Indeed.

With that in mind, Id choose the Audi too. Im looking to get an A4 after much deliberating on car choices over the past few weeks (I dont think I could afford an S4 just yet!).

nihe... hang on a few weeks / couple of months.... prices are dropping at the mo with the credit crunch and all that...  (especially company cars!)

Ive been watching them for a while and its been a noticeable drop :)

Im having trouble selling the 5 anyway! Too many out there and its the wrong side of summer. No one wants to buy a summer runaround in this economic climate and with the weather turning crappy again.
