add 4 or 5 to the RON to get a UK-like figure.  The US use a different system of calculating.  Still only 91/92 though, so a bit sh*t for power.

I vaguely remember being told it was to do with higher RON not working at certain heights above sea level.  Considering the fact I can fill up here with standard unleaded, then drive over the Alps without any problems Im guessing they are talking total bollocks

Yeah its just sh*t gas. I get 15-20mpg in my 2 litre SUV which in the uk youd get 30 on.

different size gallons over there, dont know many if any 2.0 petrol engines that claim 30mpg over here tbh especially in a SUV that wont be aerodynamic at all

Audi Q5 = 33MPG
BMW X3 = 30MPG
Citroen C-Crosser = 30-31MPG
Hyundai Tucson = 35MPG
Kia Sorrento = 33MPG
Kia Sportage = 34-35MPG

Arent those figures always "under optimum conditions" though?

My Mazda is meant to get 40mpg, but in reality a fairer figure would likely be 35mpg if driven normally, or in my case 37.5 as I dont find it necessary to floor it all the time.

Surely those figures refer to high gear / motorway / carriageway etc, i would of thought the situation that Sam is in is optimal as its all big ass roads in America

The roads in the states are sh*t and its terrible to drive because you have to stop every 100 yards for an intersection.

I have the tucson btw.

on 99RON V-Power I get about 16MPG on average.
