Title: Busy couple of days !
Post by: Bartop on November 18, 2006, 19:22:04 PM
Had the day off yesterday - went to see Subaru4you in Newbury for a bit of spannering ! Had a Samco Turbo Inlet Hose fitted (Bugger of a job) Inlet manifold spacers, 20k service, Cusco rear brace and under diffuser, Oil pressure/temp sensors for the PSI3 monitor and an SPT Short Air Intake. Super Job and service as usual and got them to throw on some PIAA Silicone wipers before I headed home.

On the way back though I was gutted at the amount of noise from the air intake - not only the woosh of the air but the fluttering and chattering that came with it.

Anyways - all is good as I was booked in with Bob Rawle in Swindon today for a remap so the first job of the day was to put the original airbox and STi panel filter back on. Bob reckoned it was no more restrictive and a hell of a lot quieter. He then proceeded to spend a good four hours on the car getting the base map sorted and then out on the road for some fun !

Ive never been out on the road for a mapping session before and it was quite an experience ! Holding boost at 0.5 and then one bar whilst Bob watches whats happening, pull over for some tweaking and then out again for another run.

And boy what a difference, the car is pulling like a train right through the revs in every gear ! Bob reckons its putting about 330bhp and over 350 lbs torque. Im very pleased and I would thoroughly recommend the good Dr Bob if anyone is needing a remap..

So no more mods for a while - need to start saving for some AST coilovers !

Pete

Lol

...its a fairly harmless if somewhat expensive hobby, the way I look at it I could have blown it all on gambling/alcohol and loose women...

...ahh, oh damn, that would have been even more fun..    :heehaw:

Anyone want to buy a second hand slightly modified family run around ?

I just got my results back from the DeltaDash runs - according to the numbers from that the car is pushing out 372 bhp and 407 torque !

I think that cant be right but Ive got it booked on the rollers tomorrow evening, Ive had it on there before and the best its shown so far is 311/350 so will be interesting to compare :)

So youve dropped power?  Or where the previous ones at the flywheel?

Yep - previous numbers are calculated crank - figure 25% drivetrain losses on the Scoobs.

That is a heavy auld boat - I would say the weight combined with the brick shape would see the top speed a lot lower than the estimate?

A 944 Turbo makes 162mph on 250hp - but it is a lot slippier, and a HELL of a lot lighter.

Power to weight puts you on a par with something like an integra type r which is quite good for something that size!

That weight was a guesstimate with 2 up (and Im no lightweight !) plus a boot load of gear.

The kerb weight is 1490kg, which is 85kg more than the Impreza.

The Dyno says 340 bhp / 380 torques :)

Thats more like it tbh and is a nice jump from 310/340 where I was before
