She's a 1990 Phase 2 BX 16 valve, the body is absolutely immaculate underneath, paint is faded though, but it looks like it will polish up.
Engine bay was full of leaves, but the body and chassis is absolutely perfect.
The car has the wrong (A phase one) rear bumper, but there is a rear phase 2 bumper in our massive pile of BX parts so it's all good.
Plans are new liners (It has 102k miles on it so due a rebuild although the leakdown was good, it may as well get freshened up now), stem seals, new piston rings, put my spare Jenvey throttle bodies on her, Emerald K3 ecu and new hydraulic return pipes. Will make a nice retro daily driver. Should be nippy enough at that to see off most modern 'hot' hatches.
rear shot, light clusters are in the boot.

Interior is in great shape - ignore the stuffing on floor! Was from the spare interior being stacked in it

needs a good tidy up in the bay, but everything works.

Only just getting to do something to this now! Didn't get a lot done today, just started to strip down - got the new radiator in as well though.
Will be getting the head off tomorrow then the pistons out to put new rings on. Will need valve stem oil seals as well.
Then it's on with the Jenveys and the sporty inlet cam!

Made some progress today, got the head off and was pleasantly surprised by the liner condition.
A hone should be all I need to do to them before firing on the new gapless rings.
Had a bit of bother with one of the bolts, some bellend must have had at them before with a poor fitting driver and broke a bit off it. Will be replacing them anyway

Got the barge into the garage with the lift today, got the non standard front bumper off and stuck a new door seal on the drivers side.
Bodywork won't start until after all the mechanicals are perfect.
underside of the car is completely rot free - you'd think it had been kept in a bath of oil!!
Anyway, few pics
Outside at last (You can see how well the paint is going to come up - i did a test patch on the bottom half of the drivers door, it's coming up like new, and that was the worst bit!)

Still have it, only has a much larger turbo now and water/meth injection!
from what I remember of the old turbo.. the new one must be about the size of a house :o

Welcome back, glad you've decided to stop in again Mark! We need a photo of you with your head inside the turbo ;D
Yes! Have missed your car threads Mark! Hope you'll be sticking around!
I'll open a new topic on the toyota when I get it back from being painted.
Been flat out studying for CCIE security this past week so not got much more done to it apart from some wiring work. Have also to sort a megajolt on a friend's stock car.
Piston rings and a set of XM V6 spheres (Will make suspension stiffer) arrived so I'll get the engine back together at the weekend.
Gotta try and get this right, is this BXGTI16V? Im sure that was the username, if so, hello buddy!
Looks good, should pull well!
That's Mark alright!

I thought as much, nobody else would buy those old french crappers :heehaw: :panic:
Got the head back together at least this weekend
The valve collets were ridiculously tricky to get in with a normal spring compressor and small screwdriver with grease on it!

Unfortunately it looks as if I will have to replace at least one liner, as the ring clearances uncut were too great, so going to have to look about that this week.
High lift inlet cam has been ordered but going to take 4 weeks to arrive, so building up with standard cam for the time being.
This week I should have the engine back together assuming I get the liner(s) I need.
Damn, how the hell do people know this stuff. :) mega jealous of your mechanical skills

Its not vastly different from working on computers really! Patience is key

What I love about these threads is your clear attention to detail and meticulous attitude, I wish I had the kind of knowledge to be like this on my own car and soup it up too but I don't even feel confident looking at brakes despite watching people like knighty change them plenty of times.
looking good, plenty done
but what's copper spray ? I've never heard of it before.... just spray on copper ease ?
I think it is copper-grease in sprayform ?

Nice, coppergrease is good so that must be good :)
Got less done this weekend than I wanted, as I was bloody sick.

what size injectors are you using ?
They're off a Saab turbo of some kind, I'll check out the flow rates and let you know.
I wanted to mount them in the mouth of the trumpets, but don't have the room for it.
Haven't updated this in ages due to the wedding etc, will upload the rest of the build and progress in next post
in the meantime, here's a quick video

Found some BX Headlights and Mirrors at work the other week, not sure if i kept them, currently listing thousands parts onto a new computer system, will let you know if i find anything decent, or you can let me know if your looking for something.
It would be great if you had headlights/mirrors etc as I'm always in need of them!
I did have a good look around for both Headlights and Mirrors but we are all out of them, i assume if i had found some we probably binned them, i still have 1000s more items to sort through, the one and only item i have found so far is a Pug 405 / Citroen BX 1.9 Bosch MAF, i'll keep an eye out for more bits. :P
