Tonight at midnight my car was written off. I was not in the car at the time and only have third part insurance. I do not have the legal cover.
Story.....
A chav, pissed up drove a jag into my car. My car has been written off and impounded as it is unsafe to leave in public.
I appreciate that my insurance wont cover the damages, but what about this chav?
Due to the secrecy act or something, the police wont tell me fek all.
I have no idea of his financial status.
I have no idea of his age.
I have no idea if the car was actually stolen or in fact the driver owned the jag.
Whats my options?
My car value is around a grand.

Dude, get in touch with your local Citizens advice bureau, or get in touch with a local solicitor. Most of them offer the first 1/2 hour of consultation for free - But yeah, try the C.A.B first mate :)
Spoke to the police - it was a stolen car, and the guy was pissed as a fart.
Update, its £140 recovery fee
plus £12 a day storage.
insurance companies have a slush fund to pay for damages in incidents like this
however if you claim, youll lose your NCB.
Matt
sue the chav?
Criminal damage.
Chav should pay damages when it goes to court.
Failing that if they cant apprehend them then the courts have a fund that pays out compensation to folk whove been the victim of a crime.

Its called MIB
AFAIK a few companies allow you to keep your no claims. TBH it should be law that people who are hit by uninsured drivers keep their no claims status IMO.
I dont know enough about this and it might have changed...

http://www.mib.org.uk/Default.htmQuoteAre there any special MIB rules about a claimants no-claim discount?
No. This is exclusively a matter between policy holders and their insurers.
However, insurers have agreed, in most cases, to allow the no claims discount where a claim on the MIB for uninsured losses has been met on a full liability basis.
http://www.mib.org.uk/MIB/en/AboutMIB/FAQ/FAQGFUKANYSPRULES.htmChances are you will have to pay £350 towards repair as this is the MIB limit.
