Then it rained last night and looked like someone had chucked a bag of sand on it so did it again this morning

Just got the car back from API engines, long story but now has a new 2.5 lined block, wossner forged pistons, forged rods and race bearings. Currently running in so limited boost but very pleased with it, remap at the end of the month and should be good for an easy and safe 400+ bhp and torque..

Still havent decided though if Im gonna keep it, love the car but totally impractical / expensive for my daily commute..

Anyways - hope you enjoy !

Looks nice mate. That sand stuff really pisses me off. Spend £15 getting the car cleaned and then the next day it looks like a bloody sandcastle :(
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

mr_roll

Only my monitor makes that look dirty!!

Why get a load of engine work done to it, which if increasing HP will probably increase fuel consumption if its costing to much. Is it not good enough standard? And maybe if it was standard itd be a viable work automobile ?

Bartop

As I say, long story but the car already had forged pistons, but started using more and more oil.

Couldnt sell it as is so took it back to API and they diagnosed damage to 2 pistons and bores. Decided to get the forged rods and race bearings done as incremental cost was minimal and makes the car much stronger and possibly more desirable if I do sell it..

I actually like it ;)

Cleaned my golf all today after I got a horrible layer of sand on it, got some photos to come tomorrow :)

Whats the standard rods like ?

A set of totalseal gapless top rings would (imo) be a good safe top off to the new pistons - I used wiseco in my newest rebuild, as wossener are too dear

Bartop

Standard rods are good but worth replacing at 400+

Must admit the Pistons were recommended by API, had never heard of them myself..

They are good - used them before in another project, but they are v dear compared to the likes of the wiseco - which are as good (In some applications better) so there are no worries about them doing the job for you. wossner carry a 50% premium over other brands for some reason

As long as the rods arent eagle rods youre landed - crower or the likes are very good

Sand...or pollen?

Sorry to nitpic  :whoops:

Bartop

Dont get any problems at all with the image tbh, weird as you would expect it I think..

.was definately sand, widely reported as well cross tinterweb, apparantly bought in from a sandstorm in the Sahara according to the BBC..

DEViANCE

my car is covered in dust/sand at the mo, i just put it down to the cement works a couple of miles away. Sahara sounds better though.

Today on the road I saw numerous RS4s, Porsches and a Lambo Murcielago *swoons*, as well as a very low riding convertible sportscar I couldnt identify, with two logos on the back in this same oval black and white style:
