Title: Dodgy smell
Post by: Binary Shadow on January 23, 2010, 20:12:31 PM
Since i bought my subaru nearly a year ago its had a bit of a wet dog smell, thought id shift it with a good clean and it did get better but the heater seemed to make it worse.

I ran one of those clean air sprays through and that did improve things a lot but it wasnt perfect so i bit the bullet and bought a new cabin filter, hard to find for a subaru legacy outback H6, cost £23 in the end which is a lot in my experiance.

Today i came to fit it, subaru in their infinate wisdom stuck it behind the glovebox which was a bit of a bugger to remove but i got there:

And im glad i did, the filter was well past it:

Must not have been changed for ages:

Loads of straw and crap wedged between the filter and the heater matrix, wrong side of the filter so how it got there i dont know!

I also found a swimming pool in the boot so need to find the leak:

Pulled the bungs to drain the water, was nearly 2" in the bottom. Still some stuck in places i cant get to as well!
