I made this. I get annoyed by those who have their fog lights turned on during good weather. Hopefully this will get through to a few people on the Internet.
People drive round with them on because they think it makes them look cool or something

If you ask me reading that site should be compulsory before any driver is allowed on the motorway.
Same goes for the Xenon brigade

Is it possible to manually adjust xenons? I thought they had to have auto leveling sensors by law? Probably more to do with getting them re-calibrated at the dealership.
The homeboys around here drive around with only their parking lights on at night. Combine that with US regulation that doesnt require a marker light on the front wing, and you get some very invisible drivers. Cops dont seem to give a crap.
I think they should have more police to actually police the things like lane discipline, getting to close to the car in front and the things that go un-noticed most of the time like the fog lights.
I dont think people should get big penalties, but they should get a warning and then from then on they could get bigger penalties.
My old man got pulled over in his bright blue Coupe F2 for having "Unnecessary Lights" on. In his case it was a genuine mistake, but if its an offence then why dont they do more about it? I think the plod got a shock when my Dad (80 this year but this was about 4 years ago) got out of the car, they were probably expecting a youngster.
I once got pulled over whilst passenger in a friends car. He was in a panic and told me to rip the tax disk off and hide it. The copper looks in and asks where the tax disk is. After a fanstatic tale of the car being broken into and nothing apparently being stolen but then just today he noticed the tax disk missing so they must have stolen that etc.. the copper looks at my friend for a fast second and says...
"When they nicked your tax disk did they turn your fog lights on?"
A copper with a sense of humour! He let my mate off concluding that he couldnt be a boy racer as hes driving a Citreon ZM!!

Screw that, penalties instantly. I got a Ã,£30 last month for having a number plate light out, even though I swapped it instanyly, and was nice to the copper he still did me! Should be the same for other people

Jesus you got Fd in the A!!

I think he was a complete c**t. Most coppers would have just made me swap it, I keep spare bulbs in the car anyway. If it had been a headlight then i would have understood, but a number plate light i never look at, and sorted as soon as i knew seems a little overboard. At least he didnt do me for points, that would have meant me taking it to court to avoid the points.

Not only is he a bloody fog lighter, if your mate is driving without tax hes a truly contemptible knob. :disappointed:
driving without tax isnt too bad, driving without MOT or insurance is the pits tho
In my world, everybody pays, fair and square. With blood if necessary :yarr:
i see where ur coming from, and generally people who dont tax their cars usually dont insure them or MOT them either
and wear burberry baseball caps
And the tax disc has been nicked from another car, causing damage, hassle and expence to the owner.
Haha, Im really sure I dont actually have foglights.. My mkII seat ibiza doesnt have a button for them, but theres a strange vertical knob next to the rotary lights switch to the right of the dash which may be it, but I got the girlfriend to go outside the car and have a look to see if anything comes on when I turned the dial up/down but nothing!
Isnt that to set the angle of your headlights?
Yeah im pritty sure it is... I will go take a look for him... Its illegal to not have a fog light these days :s
some foglights are just the rear foglight....
that in clear conditions is so bright you cant tell the difference between "brakes on" and "brakes off, lights on"
no its a legal requirement to have rear fog lights, its not illegal to not have front fog lights, but if you do have them they must work
oh and on ur seat, try pulling the the knob out when ur lights are on, that might turn the rear fogs on
Quote from: Eddoh and on ur seat, try pulling the the knob out when ur lights are on, that might turn the rear fogs on
Watch out for the police though!
I completely misread it...

Bingo the MK2 Ibiza is just a VW Polo with a less "desirable" badge. the fog lighs come on when you pull the headlight switch out.
its the same on a transit connect, i spent ages trying to work out how to turn the buggers on, and it was when u couldnt see more than 5 metres in front of you AND it was pitch black

Dude, can you really blame them considering the price of blinker relays these days?

...or they forgot and where only a few days late is another possibilty.....?
i did say generally pal, not all the time
but u do get reminders in the post before its due, so using the excuse "oh sorry officer i forgot" when you blatently know the tax is up but still drive the car around is a bit knobbish
