Post by: Eggtastico on March 03, 2008, 19:26:43 PM
having one of these delivered later in the week... any good?
Was purchased today, getting its branding & checks tomorrow, then whenever they can deliver it to me

Company have changed leasing agents, so no more Mercs, Volvos or Saabs  :rage:  :(

Been driving the diesel estate version around recently as flat mate has one.  Its a good solid car tbh - cant really fault it (except the boot on the estate hangs 4 million miles out the back of parking spaces!)

Saabs are Vauxhall, Volvo are fords, and mercs are just mercs.

The new Mondeos are supposed to be very nice, especially if get a Ghia/Titanium model.

Some people laugh at the idea of a Mondeo but even top gear had to concede they were and still are a very good buy. For all practical reasons theres no real reason not to get one, and I intend to buy one (albeit the older mark 2 or 3) in a few months.

Yes, it was purchased especially for me.

Not sure the model, but the current one is Titanium X or somthing..

I wont be basic as it has to have some prestiege to match my tier 3 status
tier 1 gets vans, tier 2 gets vectras tier 3s did have volvos, mercs & Saabs, but are now getting Mondeos

Its the estate version as well.

and thats the order I rate them.

loved the saabs, really quick (even the diesel) & the fuel economy was outstanding.. getting 400miles out of a petrol & over 600 on the diesel for a full tank
Volvo was nice, took about the same to fill, mileage a bit less - but it was really comfortable to drive.
Merc = piece of sh*t. Really are just paying for the badge. No fancy toys, seats arent wide enough & quite uncomfortable.

Good solid car.  There is no practical reason to get one.

New range has a lot more character.

well it got delivered yesterday, but I rejected it :-D

They need to now buy me the correct model / spec.

If im paying through the nose in tax, they can make sure I get what im paying for.

Let me guess, you ordered top of the range or nearly, and they sent an 1.8 LX or similar?

nope, they sent a manual.
Im not driving up & down the motorways in a manual. I WANT MY CRUISE CONTROL

You sure it wasnt a manual with cruise control?
Title: Re:ford mondeo.... any good?

Cruise control on manual cars is pretty common
Title: Re:ford mondeo.... any good?
Post by: Eggtastico on March 07, 2008, 12:42:15 PM
there was no cruise control - last few cars Ive had have been autos with CC - wasnt really aware that manuals can have cruise control - thought that could be a bit awkward with gears, etc.

set it to 70, then put your feet up & steer.

Not looked into exactly how they do it but had a couple of manuals with cruise control.

Just thought I should mention it in case youd rejected the right car :)

heh, that will be an incorrect order as well, but in your favour.   If you are getting reamed for tax then might as well have it.
