Korea and Mexico take my vote as the most crowd pleasing teams. The Korean team and their fans showed unbreakable spirit today--and the footwork of no. 11 (whatshisname)--OMG! France was shorted a goal by a stoopit ref, and missed a couple easy shots on an open goal...sucks to be them.

I wasnt going to watch it, but the lure of World Cup in hi-def makes it worse than crack cocaine.

its always good to see france get slapped down a peg or two - Thierry Henry is the most arrogant prick to grace a football field in a long while and he chokes on the big stage... OK he scored tonight, but at club level and at international level he usually soils himself against strong teams....

3x the resolution of American broadcast TV for free via antenna. It makes a difference big time. I find sports on TV to be a bit of a drag, but HD makes it an immersive experience.

Blashpemer !!! Burn him and bury the remains ! How dare you, arghh !!

He is a pleasure to watch, when he can be arsed :) He does have his moments of acting bigger than the team but then you get that with most players who have huge individual skill.

As for hi-def, Im not certain but I think in the US sports are transmitted at 720p, while in the UK (sky atleast) are sending everything out at 1080i. 1080i not being great for fast motion and hence the footy does look a little blured on occasion. The best hi-def footy shots I have seen so far have been those of the crowd, when the camera is fixed on one area and not sweeping !

Indeed it was 720p, and not a whit of blur. Turn up the sound, squint a little--and youre there. A few shows, like ER are broadcast in 1080i and are breathtaking. "Lost" in 720p is still mighty lush.

Yeah Ive been getting all of my fix of Lost in 720p from a certain country across the pond ;) It certainly does look a lot better than the 576p turd that we get :)

IIRC, Sky made a decision to upscale and broadcast everything in 1080i as they feel that their consumer base is too stupid to make a decision over the correct type of TV theyd require. The really stupid thing is that the SkyHD box can be set to output 720p, in which case it could be downscaling an upscaled transmission

But back on topic, hi-def Footy still looks a lot better than standard digital TV :)

many 0-0 and 1-1 and other low scores so far high class in many teams and a mixture of thinking and strategy.
