Title: Hamilton Disqualified
Post by: Rivkid on April 02, 2009, 10:09:27 AM
From the Oz GP for lying to stewards... FFS I thought they were going to stop this sh*t and stop F1 being a constant farce. I used to moan that in football the score always being final was a stupid idea but this is proving 100% that its the right thing to do. Results of a GP shouldn;t be changing the day before practise of the next one its f**king ridiculous. If theres a problem marshalls/stewards need to address it right away not a week later. If they cant they should be sacked as incompetant fools.

BTW Im not saying Hamilton was right or wrong I dont know the details. That isnt my arguement.

Thats what you get for lying to the stewards. :-/

Also, further to you point.  I believe this is the only race where no one was on the right place on the podium :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_Brazilian_Grand_Prix

MArtin Whitmarsh :

Quote"We are disappointed by what has happened but in the circumstances we are not going to appeal," said McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh.

He added: "There is no implication that Lewis lied to the stewards.

"As I understand there is a belief that the team was not explicit enough in the content of the radio communications to the stewards.

"What they believe is that the omission of the information about the radio communication between the team was withheld and that is misleading.

"I believe it was a harsh decision. Lewis made a legitimate pass and then was repassed - at the time the team asked race control several times about the repass but they were too busy to answer that question so we felt the decision in the immediate aftermath was fair.

"I think its a regrettable day. It certainly wasnt a deliberate attempt (to mislead the stewards)."

Sounds more believable personally. Think this is another case of stewards covering their own mistakes to be honest. Isnt the first time and sadly wont be the last. Been said a million times but again - would never have happened to Ferrari.

Im not a racing fan, dont follow or care about it really as find it totally boring, so this might be a totally noobish question, but that stuff about asking for permission about repassing etc...is F1 a race where instead of overtaking when youre faster, you only overtake when you get permission?!?!!?

LMAO - youd think so the way things have been lately...

No its because there had been a crash and while the debris was cleared everyone follows a slower moving safety car. Whilst following this your not allowed to overtake. Trulli slipped off during this period then regained his position by overtaking Hamilton. McLaren werent sure of what they were meant to do and upon seeking confirmation from race control were told they were too busy to answer - they then decided best to let Trulli through rather than risk being disqualified.... Common sense says they should have just made Hamilton 3rd and Trulli 4th - but they cant go 5 minutes without f**king something up.

The stewards answer to the FIA, not the other way round.  The stewards still have to explain their decision of a 10 place penalty for vettel to the FIA.

As much as a dislike post race polotics/punishments, this really does sound quite straight forward on this occasion.

It really does get easy to get stuck behind the opinion that FIA are looking for any oppurtunity to penalise McLaren, for once they were gifted a reason to do so.

True, very true.

But again, what do you do..

Still young, 3rd season, still learning and your in there with your boss who is coming out with all this crap which you know is not true.

Do you a) But in and go, nonono, that is not what happened, and get a right ear bashing or worse after by your boss? (Then a well done by his bosses mind)
or b) stand there and nod your head.

You should do a) of course but how many in many similar situations actually do, not many. Was stupid, they should, HE (the boss) should have been happy with 4th and not been greedy.
