got pulled over today for speeding.... was only by a little bit, copper told me hed check over the van and if everythging was ok hed send me on my way with a warning not to do it again.....
everything was fine until the copper checked out my driving licence details.... according to DVLA I havent had one for 2 years... havent been banned etc... it was revoked... and he didnt know why
awesome, 3 points, £60 fine, van towed anyway with £150 to get it back,
and if I get caught driving again theyll ban me from driving
I havnt had a licence for the last 2 years..... but Ive been done for speeding via speed camera twice in that time ?.... cheeky sods.
Is the revoked licence an error on the DVLAs part? Kinda bizarre!
no idea.... going to rind em in the morning....
I havent done anything for it to be revoked (as far as I know)
was a bit of a surprise !
If you once learned how to drive you really do not need one to drive do you :D
could it have expired & you not renewed it? Photo licenses only last 10 years

But dont they let you know when its due, and its not like you have to retake your test, you still have a valid licence, just an invalid licence card surely?

Fingers crossed its their mistake and you can claim back the fines and the costs involved regarding loss of business whilst sorting it out and getting points on your licence etc :D

nope, I did renew it..... I was a bit late, but I did it and have the new one to prove it, old one ran out on 14/04/1999

photo ID last 10 years, so it would have ran out 2009... almost 2 years ago?

QuoteRenewing a Driving Licence that has been Expired for Some Time
If more than two years has passed since your driving licence expired, you may be made to retake your driving test in order to get a new licence. This is especially the case if your licence has expired due to age (driving licences need to be renewed when you reach seventy) or medical reasons. For these, you may also have to pass a medical. In other cases, you can simply apply for a new licence without problem, although the DVLA will often want to know why your licence has been expired for so long.

Looks like you got off lightly with only 60 quid and 3 points, could have been a lot worse if you went over 2 years since it expired! :gag:
Thats got to be whats happened i thought that earlier on after you told me, your licence must have needed renewing
Im still using the old paper license, kind of glad i never bothered going for a photo one
just phoned the DVLA..... apparently they have no record of receiving my licence the last time I sent it in for points.... so they revoked it - this was all last September, so Im not sure where they copper got 2 years from :o
need to fill out a form and its all sorted, going to take 3 weeks tho :(
this is why the copper I got pulled up by about a week before mine expired to me to registered post it. Said they are infamous for things going missing.
well it gets better....
I cant find the photo card part of the driving licence anywhere.... so i went to the police station today with just the paper bit,
and they cant accept it, because I dont have the photo bit....
so I have to go to court instead !
:(
lol youre so bad
That sucks, but on the plus side youve made me check my licence and mine expires March next year so not too long now. Its a bit cheeky that they include the time from when you got your provisional, I got my licence in Aug 2002, but it expires March 2011, not quite the 10 years.
Things might get difficult as my paper licence spent 2 weeks at the bottom of a lake before I retrieved it, so its condition isnt much good :D
My US license was valid for 2 years only.
Good job it can be sorted, pitty it has to take 3 weeks.
Lets hope they dont lose this form and send it recorded delivery!

I believe the first is and the next 4 years.

got a letter from the police a couple of days ago, saying they recognise that Id been into the police station to hand my licence in but couldnt find it, that it would be a waste of a courts time, so theyve given me a month to get a new one and then post it to them.
then another letter arrived today from "Central Payments Unit for Cumbria" saying I owe them a £625 fine.... but it looks fake to me..... it has what looks like a police logo/shield thing in the top left corner, but when you look close its of such a low resolution that you cant read what it says (the rest of the letter is perfectly printed)
(the shield thing with a lion on one side and a unicorn on the other? - not sure what its called)
wtf is going on ? maybe Im the victim of identity theft or something ?
the letter.....

you may give them a ring to find out wtf its all about!
I was worried about ringing them, because Id heard if you ring up about dodgy parking tickets etc.. its some kind of acceptance of it ?
all seams a bit fishy to me....
Have you at any point accepted guilt in writing?
If not, you don't owe them a penny and they'll have to take you to court to get it. The CPS is never going to prosecute you for this – it's not in the public interest.

thing is, wtf is this fine for ?
its nothing to do with me getting pulled the other week ? Ive already sorted all that out - applied for my new licence, as soon as that comes in I post it off to the coppers with a £60 fine and its all over and done with...
Well the phone numbers and address is legit, but some people have phoned up and found out there was nothing others have actually had a fine
http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/03007909901
nice find, Ill just ignore it then.....
theres people on that page receiving finds and phoning up, being told its about parking tickets.... but they dont even drive or own a car...
There were a couple of legit ones though so might be worth checking?
i read on another site that if you phone them theyll hound you for money..... if its legit theyll send another letter / something more official
I would be tempted to ring the number on the letter you got from the police and ask them about it, £625 sounds a lot more than a fixed penalty should be? ...Sounds the sort of money a collection agency would charge after a CCJ was made against you with court and their own fees added, but given the short timescale and the fact you have not recovered a summons makes you wonder if it is a con or a clever use of the system to trick people into paying over the odds?
I was fined £60 for the driving licence thing, which Ive already paid...
this £625 is totally unrelated to that, I googled more, and theres a hell of a lot of people receiving them for no reason at all.... Im going to ring them in the morning and ask them what its for....... (theyre all drving related fines)
and then Ill tell them it can;t possibly be for me because I dont have a driving licence ! (for the next 2 weeks till my new one turns up)
