Title: Importing Cars
Post by: chrisdicko on February 17, 2008, 11:15:45 AM
Well, Ive nearly had my BMW a year now.....so its time for a change, lol.

Im thinking of a Integra DC5.....hopefully for no more than £11k. There are quite a few companies that sell them, but they are obviously importing them from somewhere.....I just wondered if anyone knows a company that will import for you and not make as big profit as the car garages are?!

Cheers

Costs a fortune iirc,
Best pay a company to do it for you.

Things to remember:

Car will not have been looked after.
The mileage will be low, but doesnt show the hours running in a tokyo traffic jam.
Get it undersealed.
Anything that is non-standard will have to be removed/replaced for the SVA.

Go to a REPUTABLE importer. Do NOT, I repeat NOT!!!!! get one that has been modified in any way, whatsoever.

Then, forget about  DC5 and get an EK9 civic type R

Why forget about the DC5? they are nice cars but I thought they go for less than 7K...

Why not get a slightly modified one??

Also, why not a DC5? I think they are mint, and tbh, dont like the EK9s......just look old IMO.

Mr Roll, you can get DC2s for less that £7k ;)

I can vouch for neweraimports.com had my car from those for coming up to 4 years now, never had to have any work done to it other than stuff like changing the oil :ptu:

Theyre older cars though arent they. Wouldnt it be a 1995 Skyline maybe?? To me everything looks dated in them......and the DC5 doesnt at all IMO.

May be older, but you have to remember - they were a £40-50,000 supercar - not a hot hatch

And, tbh if were honest with ourselves, all jap cars have sh*t interiors.

You should also consider an RX-7TT - one of the final ones

Take a drive in one and see what you think afterwards :)

Some good input from Mark there, bland plastic is unfortunately the defacto, but tbh who gives a rats.

£11k is a big wedge, you can chose from many many cars, have a really good peruse :ptu:

I would have either

or

OR

Get a Rev 3 MR2 turbo, and wring 500bhp out of it. Even with only 500bhp it will be faster than most things on the road

No BMWs have class.  They are all owned by Taxi drivers and takeaway owners.

taxi drivers have old school 5 series diesels and takeaway owners have the lowest model 3 series, thats why theyre not classy

Guy I work with was looking into getting an Integra and heres what he says

QuoteYeah the DC5 they're talking about there was what I was considering if I couldn't find an S3

They can get one direct from a Southampton Auction who will SVA it for them for a price, often the cheapest way to do it

www.a1carauctions.co.uk

or they can try www.200bhpcars.com/new/  supposed to be a good dealer

or Dunc at www.fastjapcars.com

there's loads of others too

they're right about undersealing, must be done! Try and get one with BIMTA mileage certificate too, there's loads to check
