Title: Just Like Grammas bike!
Post by: maximusotter on January 24, 2007, 21:59:11 PM
It was one of the bikes I learned to ride on. 2 spd hub. Aluminum handlebars, wooden grips, circa 1940 or so.  Grammas was blue and had a folding aluminum handle on the seat tube for carrying up stairs. A very expensive ride back in the day!

Very light actually, compared to the UK and Dutch counterparts. Ya didnt see Raleigh or Batavus of the era sporting ultra lightweight aluminum chaincases.

And very nicely done too ;)

Some of those were hand cut while others were punched out by machine.

Id give my left testicle if I could get a restorable mens version. :w00t: Id hand build the wheels onto 700c polish silver Sun rims, mount up some modern 32 mm tires, and save the original kit for when and if it becomes a display bike. Gotta love the macrame coat guard. :D

Notice the other details, like the rear fender that extends further down from the bottom bracket cluster. Awesome! Ive had a Norwegian Kroon in the same style. Brilliant! Same proportions, but likely from the 70s. As much as I wub British and Dutch roadsters, the classic scandinavian frames have better handling and behave better on hills. :D
