Been looking for a new car for a little while and want something that is fun and hard top preferably, have about 2-3k to spend.
Ive almost settled on an FTO (GPX manual - MIVEC engine (Mitsis answer to the VTEC))
But thought Id see if you guys had any better suggestions!
Any 200SXs in that budget ?
Otherwise, a classic impreza or something like that.
Celica GT-4 (round headlight model)?
Jaimz
sh*t engine though. Would never recommend the same engine as an MR2 turbo to anyone.

Id have a FTO in a heartbeat if I wasnt doing 500 miles a week.
Cheers all, Was expecting Mark to recommend an MR2!
The 200SXs look like they just fit in to that budget, but not a fan of scoobys. Although for the money I can get a decent FTO and think thats what Im going to go for still.
I will probably keep an eye on the 200SXs though and see if a good one comes up!
Cheers all for the comments though, just wanted to see really if there were any cars that I hadnt considered yet!

f**k me....... after all the time and money youve put into yours....
Yeah I know, theyre great standard. But a nightmare once you start modifying them!
If running costs i.e fuel is not an issue i would recommend a Prelude VTEC anyday, i just cant fit in them personally.
I would also agree with Mark, power to £ ratio would be an Impreza, again another car i cant fit inside =P
And stay away from the FTOs, from what ive read they suffer from all sorts of issues and can be costly to sort out.

FTO driver here for almost 2 years. Not a single issue, flew through the last MOT without issue. not bad for a 13 year old car. Gives me 40+ MPG on long motorway journeys. Great car..... If you get a good one.

Indeed, had mine 5+ years, nothing ever needed doing at servicing other than handbrake cable, and tyres.
