nobody has ever repaired IT Stuff down to circuit level. Well, not unless they ca source replacement parts. Only time I can recall doing so, is with UPSs when they fail to charge.

Its more cost effective to just replace a part than repair a part with the price of labour these days.

I have with a broken mobo circuit ... OK I was bored at the time But early stuff was so expensive it was just something you did.

Otherwise I would agree, unless its an immediately diagnosable fault its simpler and cheaper now to just replace.

like blown caps that just need replacing

had to do two of these at work,

£5s worth of caps vs £300 for a new tower that would probably be done normally if something isnt turning on / crashing.




all this reminds me, gotta get 4 litres of oil for my bikes service, sod taking it to a bike shop now.
