Title: Motorbike wanted
Post by: Maldonado on November 02, 2009, 18:11:04 PM
I know this is technically the wrong forum, but Ill get much better visibility in here....

I want to star a project to teach myself metalwork and welding skills. My budget wont stretch very far so a cheap donor vehicle will really increase the viability of the project. Does anyone have an old motorbike that they would be willing to let go for mates rates? Absolutely anything would be considered and probably willingly accepted!

Mini Motos are cheap as chips :P

Also consider going to a local auction, we had 2 go through for under £100 each

Mini motos would be far too small, I think 400CC would be ideal.

If you want to learn to fabricate, you dont need a motorbike - because there is damn all on them to fabricate.

What Mark says, a motorbike is basically a frame with an engine attached and a pair of wheels.

You might as well buy/find/aquire a bunch of scrap metal and weld that together.

The frame of the bike would be scrapped and an entirely new frame fabricated (not as a bike though)

soo a bike engine in a different frame, safe to assume kit car/kart powered by a bike engine?

id check ebay for ruined bikes, plenty of 400 or 600cc that are smashed to bits im sure
