Title: My bike
Post by: DEViANCE on December 23, 2008, 22:45:00 PM
Looks like my thread about getting my bike has vanished so here is a new one, now its on the road.

Couple of pics:

Its not too bad, abit rough around the edges. Perfect for a first bike.

So far Ive cleaned up and reprayed the frame, changed the filters, changed the oil, changed the plugs, changed the coolant and cleaned and lubed the chain.

Here is a pic from when I was doing some work, the missus isnt happy to have a motorbike in the utility room :w00t:

Its still not running 100%, hunting alot and sometimes conks out at idle. Hoping the carbs just need setting up.
Both Exhausts have holes in them, but cant find any replacements so might have to weld them up and the temp guage doesnt work but I cant find a new thermostat sensor either.

like i said it should do me as i first bike and while i get some experiance, as Im a pretty poor rider at the moment to be honest.

dont discount the ignition re your idling issues

what sort of condition are the chain and sprockets in (Are they spiky - if so, replace) - how far back is the chain adjusted ?

Chain and Sprocket are in decent condition and the chain adjustment seems ok, ill check it everytime i ride for a while tho.

The engine seems fine when there is some throttle, pretty smooth and doesnt miss, also it fires up from cold (with choke) without even turning over once. Only things I could replace on the ignition is the ecu and coil things but doubt they are available anymore.

It hunts between 2200rpm and 1300rpm and then everynow and again drops below 900rpm and conks out.

Really hoping it is just carb related, as the somtimes conking out out when waiting at junctions is abit anoying

and a faulty one of those would cause lumpy idle and conking out?

Thats what utility rooms were invented for, mine used to be fixed in the kitchen.
Nice looking bike, hunting is usually fuel, check youve not got any air leaks.
