I like it, but is this as well as or instead of that previous heap?

(not a huge fan of Subs especially the Forrester)

I agree, not interested in going for something a little more prestigious than the barry boys racer?

Long story but seeing as you asked ;)

Had the Impreza for a year, was a WRX not an Sti and really loved it, we then  got a dog and seeing as the wife hadnt gone back to work and we only had one car I got the Forester. Wife has started work again so need a second car so have got her dog/family friendly one (Renault Modus - dont ask)

So Im free to get something else - was considering a 350z or the like but when this one came up I couldnt turn it down as Ive always wanted an Sti and this one is well sorted..

...phew

:)

Barry Boys? Do you know what a Barry Boy is?

Theres a difference between driving around in a prestige car with aftermarket upgrades, as opposed to Barry driving a Nova with a Aiwa home hifi in the boot, and bean can shaped like an alloy induction kit under the hood.

And i mean cmon, your calling Bartop a Barry, yet you drive around in a Mazda Mx5hit (:P) poor mans sports car!!

       :D

If you were over here youd have to reverse your comment. All the spides (chavs) here drive imprezas and evos.

Looks well, too slow though :)

PS, that fuel pump wont be up to much more.

Your southern ireland arent you?

Do they follow MOT standards or can you just drive any sh*tter evo around and get away with it.

Serious question  :?:

Im not to savvy on laws for southern ireland, i thought it was something like the US.

Northern Ireland !!!

South is full of gypos driving rustbuckets and wild horses

The MOT here is much, much stricter than on the mainland UK.

Had the same this week, found another a4 turbo, only this one had the sport wheels, sport steering wheel and interior, i asked him if the car was a sport or standard model, he replied "oh i think its like some touring model", i just thought oh man just read the logbook :D, i then asked if the cambelt had been done cus it had hit 80k, he replied "I think there is a receipt somewhere, I will confirm" the listing ended im still waiting for confirmation

Get another A4 with the 1800 Turbo 20v

Or get the engine, and get it in a Mk2 golf.

Ive not said the MX-5 is prestigious, its cheap and sporty which is why its a best seller. Better than my old Clio. You only said its sh*t because you cant fit in one

Point is, despite the price tag the Imprezas ARE common as muck - you might not think so but every arsehole with a bigger exhaust than his brain has one. They are the prestige of the Nova brigade once they hit 25 years old. Not that Im implying Bartop is at all like that, his Forester was very nice and wouldnt fit into that category at all.

I was pointing out for the money he could have something less common and a bit less likely to bring on the comments above. I just dont think Imprezas are good for anyones image. They are the sort of car I would have liked when I was 17, now I look at them and think "what a knob that must be driving that"

Like an MX5? :P :P

It doesnt matter what car he drives, drivers fall into groups, the scoobies, the nova neds, the bmws etc, and they all have opinions about each other :D

I think he should buy a Proton, best car ever made!

I dont get why you keep bringing it up  I dont badge whore, I went from a Clio - the type of sh*theap French car Id been driving for years - to something reliably Japanese, well sold and highly praised. Its not a car to brag about, and I dont tbh, but I do take a bit more pride in it. Half the people on this forum are obsessed with one badge or another anyway. I choose a car based on what is good and fitting for the moment, so a dirt cheap MX-5 to throw round corners with a bit of nip behind it (no pun intended) fitted the bill exactly. And youre less of a taxi service candidate when you only have two seats and drive like a nutter :D

Ive been looking at stepping up to something saloon based recently anyhow. Maybe an Audi or suchlike. I sure wouldnt go for an Impreza though.

Anyway Im dragging this thread OT, I hope youre happy with what you get Bartop, thats what counts at the end of the day. You seem to know what you like and what youre doing :)

the reason why the impreza is so popular with "chavs" is because is a fantastic car! not as good as the evo nowadays, but nonetheless a great car
personally id not buy a scooby or an evo right now (if i had the cash) id get something like a focus ST, or vauxhall VXR or an even faster vauxhall VXR8. There are 2 reasons for this, the styling is spot on, and because theyre from ford and vaux respectively, servicing and parts will be much cheaper than a japanese car, and in this day and age cars are much more reliable, volkswagon has lost its image of "never breaking down" because it was relative to other manufacturers whose reliability was a bit iffy, but now everyone is on an even keel
