Title: New Car - Pics *56k Warning*
Post by: DEViANCE on July 27, 2006, 21:08:10 PM
This (http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/CARS_popup.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=MG&model=ZS&variant=td&keywords=&min_pr=75&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=ch4+0lt&miles=1500&max_records=200&source=2&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH&start=9&distance=121&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200629243493471) will be my new car after the weekend if the test drive and finance crap goes as planned :D

been looking and holding on for this exact spec for ages: TurboD saloon with 180bodykit. shame about the distance.

i know most will not like it, but I do  :P

Dont do it dude, fair play you like your Rovers and its nice but for 7.5k notes you could get something gorgeous, fast, reliable & sexy too.

i am not being a blind fan boy tbh, there seriously is nothing else around that interests me, except maybe a new civic but too expensive.

that car is all the things you listed anyway, look gorgeous and sexy to me, they dont go wrong and the diesel engine is bomb proof. it isnt fast atm but is good for 160bp and lots of torque after upsolute have a play with the ecu.

ill have to see/drive it in the flesh before i part with the cash, i wont buy it just because it is a rover etc

The reviews and mechanicals of this model all point to it being fast and reliable. Gorgeous and sexy are in the eye of the beholder of course.

k maybe I was being a little harsh; 60 in under 10secs aint nothing to sniff at, and the bodykit works wonders for its looks.

Why not the TF though, you after 4 seats & a boot?

Any reason youre going for a diseasel?

do they not make a turbo petrol?

there aint nowt like a turbo petrol    seriously addictive...

(but always leaving you thirsting for more booost!! MOOARRR POWEERRR!!!)
Title: Re:New Car
Post by: DEViANCE on July 27, 2006, 23:03:39 PM
not really but might need them in the future. diesel is the main thing i am after, i dont like them much but you cant argue with the mpg (only thing going for the megane) so that rules the tf out. other car i was looking at was 75/zt, but abit big.

edit: yeah snell a petrol would be nice, but i am getting used the diesel economy and torque. there isnt actually a turbo zs but the 190bp 2.5v6 would be very nice, shame about the 18mpg  :?

V6 is a big no no today really..

my MX-3 cost me a fortune to run, and it got a lot more than 18mpg

I do quite like the way I can get 40mpg in my Yaris without a huge effort ;)

fair play though, Diesels arent bad these days but I would rather have a diesel in a sound-proofed lounge of a car, rather than a bit of a sporty one.

Why not.  Petrol isnt going to get any cheaper and certianly isnt going to make more of itself.  If your going to make silly buys any time in your life, now is the time.

i wouldnt buy one because of the power to economy ratio of a v6 is crap. you can get a variable valve or turbo 4pot with more power and more economy so why bother.

Rover kv6 2.5L Engine - 190ps, 245Nm, 28mpg(i was abit out when i said 18 )
Rover k16 1.8L VVC - 160ps, 174Nm, 40mpg
Rover T16 2.0L Turbo - 220ps, 240Nm, 33mpg

cant really see why anyone would choose the v6 these days, they are lovely and smooth but just drink too much.

something i would choose TBH. I already have 2 rover turbos and tbpfh before i owned them i hated rover with a passion but my 220SDi (Diesel o-60 9secs 103BHP) has yet to let me down in the 5 years ive owned it.
I only bought it cause i was conned into taking it for a test drive  :P

Exactly.. I cant afford to run a V6 - not much point in having a V engined car unless you can afford to get something like an Audi. They generally fit lovely things, to their Vs called Turbos :D

ive driven one of those, and yeah it was fast, but the build quality sucks compared to other cars of the same value.  At least with the Rover TD youll get somedecent use out of it.  Plus they are plastic, acres and acres of plastic.  They actuallymake Jap cars look frugal in their use of grey plastic.  Then agian maybe plastic wings you can push in are a good idea, at least they wont go the way of the older clios and rot for fun.

Anything from a company that knows how to screw a car together properly, have business sense and a business to go with it.

Hell, even a proper honda, none of this "clone" nonsense, would make more sense than an MG.

MG = Mighty Gullable.

rofl dont know if you noticed but I am buying a diesel, IG10 is max for me atm too.

The only other car i would consider would be a sporty seat leon diesel, but they are more expensive and less specd.

Have you done a history check on the car?  That registration appears to be for a Volvo.

Looks tidy,

really dont like the back-end of it though, huge boot-lid, looks weird.

Its also got too many doors ;)

interior is pretty good though - most interiors on Rovers are absolutely awful IMO, but thats not half bad at all.

Hope you enjoy it, 54 plate is nice and new :)

who makes the engine for it, or was it developed in-house?

looks nice, plenty of leg room which is something I always look for :)

dito on the boot tho :(

a very subtle spoiler might help..... it would look better if there was a lock half way between the badge and the bottom of the boot tbh.

yeah its the saloon, i dont normally go for them but in the zs case i think looks better than the hatch.

I am not sure about the hooge spoiler, could be abit ott, but I have one just in case I change my mind.

OTT is good

I think if I had to buy a Subaru Impreza, id have to have the huge ironing board spoiler on the back, for example.

its just not right without it.

but thats OEM spoilers... I dunno, theyre just right somehow. finish the back of the car off.

aftermarket on the other hand  :gag:

That is actually quite similiar to the Impreza one huh

Hmm Im not 100% sure either really - maybe if there was a smaller one? - i.e. touch of class, isntead of "I am a rally car" (which doesnt sit well with the rest of the car, its not its style..)

well actually.. dont they (the RAC) use them in BTCC dont they? get some huge ally wing

the car is definatly more touring car than rally car.

Looks like the designers sat down with a copy of max power and said,
"Yes, well have the lot"
Its only saving grace is the lack of Lexarse lights.
