Nothings happened to the "Nexia GTE" - yet.  Just need something that drinks less fuel... and has the added bonus of running on veggie oil if needs must

Im gonna be doing a lot more driving than i used too over the next few months as Im changing jobs, so i need a nice cheap economical car... Mk3 Astra seemed to fit the bill nicely

Wouldnt know... its the isuzu 1.7 turbo diesel engine, which isnt brilliant but its infinetly preferable to the GM Low pressure non intercooled turbo lump.

Might wind up the boost a tad and increase the fuelling, but I dont really need the (limited) power the Nexia provides, so I wont miss the extra horsies too much.

well the CTDI engine is much nicer engine and they started from 04 onwards, before that it was the awful gutless 1.7 Di engine, i dunno what that means but im pretty sure its a turbo engine still, kicks in at about 2900rpm

OH MY GOD, its so BORING

I have never, ever been in a more boring car. Its so boring, even the Nexia is more exciting - and thats not an biased opinion.

However, it did remind me of some of the things i like about a diesel - lots of torque, low revving on the Motorway

I think Im on the right track by looking for a diesel car, but I dont think a Mk3 Astra is the car for me - It might grow on me before the week is out, but if not its going back on eBay.

Im tempted to shell out and go for a VAG diesel of some description, something a bit less... gutless.

whats the power on one of those?

My Diesel Megane is also boring, and doesnt even like to low rev that well, doesnt like 30mph in 4th gear :( but the 2000rpm @ 70mph is nice.

that has 105bhp and 210Nm torque, so wouldnt like anything less.

The L-series rover diesel is a nice diesel to drive, might trade it in for one of those soon.
