immense. i wondered becuase bitsamissing have done it with their evo. tbh not many people are going to buy it because if its still front wheel drive itll be impossible to put all the power down.

Im pretty fanatical about Golfs but the GTI being front wheel drive makes this all a bit pointless.

TBH I wouldve been more impressed by a VW produced twin turbo Mk5 R32 as it has four wheel drive, and is already an "R". EIPs twin turbo kit for the Mk4 R32 had the engine running anything from 450-600bhp depending on the specific configuration.

but again who would buy it? you would be writing Ã,£30k straight off as you wouldnt be able to sell it when your sick to death being scared.

Really? Isnt this more for showing off/posing if your into a certain social group? After all cars designed to have 400 (or what ever) bhp to begin with would probably perform better plus be more enjoyable to drive, not to mention more reliable.

If you had a healthy disposable income to get a new sporty motor every year or two (ie change it frequently), lets say around Ã,£50k, would you rather;

a) Buy something like a Golf Mk5 R32 (Ã,£25k) and another Ã,£20k installing an EIP turbo kit to give it 4-500bhp.

or

b) Buy something like an Audi RS4, Lotus Exige, 2nd hand 911, etc.

People like sporty hatches, but cars like the R-GTI and R32 turbo are pretty much aimed at specific group.

for 50 grand you wouldnt buy a poxy saloon car - youd buy a Noble if you had any sense at all.

I recently had a drive in the old one (M12) and it beats the hell out of anything I have ever driven - makes my uncles 355 feel as vague as a passat

but you want comfort for Ã,£50k as well as speed, so the rs4 is a compromise

The Noble is comfortable - the A4 has typical too-hard audi seats

those two cars featured there are only project cars by 2 tuning companies, the R GTI being made by APR.

The new Golf GTI 30th edition will be 230ps which is hardly too much for front wheel drive.
