Title: Nice ribble
Post by: funkychicken9000 on June 17, 2006, 11:08:27 AM
Bumped into a mate of mine the other day, shuffling down a stone spiral staircase in SPDs carrying his race bike :D  Its a scandium alloy ribble with full record groupset, I picked it up and it weighed... f*** all.  I thought my ribble was light but this thing was like a fricking feather :O

Was slightly scary holding it though, the tubes felt as though they were thinner than the paint that covered them

Hes the one at the front of the pack :)

And they werent bending in my hands, they just felt and sounded like thin plastic.  Looked on the dedacciai website, apparently the tubes are 0.8mm thick in places

His bike might be light, but hell likely slide out in a turn as hes got vanity tires lacking carbon black.

Most decent racing rigs these days range from 16-20 pounds. Not much of a difference to get excited about imho. And the weight difference in frames is usually less than a pound, weenies shave those couple pounds with the aggregate savings of stupid light components.

On the photie: the third guy in the pack has his bike set up uber idjut style. Hes straining to reach even the brake hoods. I hope he loses. Your friend, while lacking in carbon black, at least seems to have a bike that fits him. :D

I noticed that, its an old machine by the look of it too, not seen GT road bikes in while (i hated GTs!)...

Ribble bikes are fing brilliant though, may invest in a proper race bike come the end of the year... cant recommend them enough.

NOTE: yellow tyres are for puffs.
