I fitted the front
I tried to fit the back
Hour later I am still trying to fit the back
30 minutes later I call my LBS
20 minutes later I hand it over saying "er.. I tried fixing it but I broke it more"
Front brake is impressive though, can vary between one finger will throw you over the handlebars, or two fingers will throw you through the rear window of the car thats 10foot in front of you.

vees are very good...
but youve never lived (or died) until youve used a set of hydro four pot discs... f*cking savage, ive managed to heat the discs up so much on my old chameleon that you make them sizzle by pouring water over them... miss them, so i may go for some avid hydros to ease the pain, either on my on-one inbred or a new freerider which i may build up soon.
LBS seemed to fit the rear brake a bit shoddily. They fit it, replaced the cables, and also replaced the rear blocks apparantly. However they left it completely slack, so much so when I tried to apply the brakes as I pulled off, I ended up having to shove my foot on the floor to stop.
5 minutes with the barrel adjuster and I got some reasonable braking from it, need to give it a good once over at home.
Front brake is more and more insane. I "endo"d I think is the word at a traffic light.
Needs some getting use to that, keep forgetting theres next to no flex in the metal body of the new levers, and that they seem to have greater cable pull than my old resin ones.

vees are good for little people like me, who have a single gear to mash and like riding up big hills and blitzing along singletrack.
discs are still too heavy for my liking and are really overkill [for me], i can still stop on a dime with my avids, although they dont look as cool and dont feel as nice as my old hydros.
if i get a freeride machine, ill go for hydros, possibly, as weight wont be an issue, itll just be in the pocket that ill notice the difference!

EDIT: another thing which pisses me off about discs, is that you cant change the pad position [relative to the disc rotor], you could on my Hope XC4s, but not on the minis, which is a pain in the arse.
Prefer Vees on trial bikes as well.... A lot more responsive in my opinion... :)
Hope Motos and Avid Juicys can adjust pad position, dearest.
For trials, vees suck still. Maguras FTW.

i wish i had the dollar. i am still pondering about new tyres let alone new brakes just yet.
lol I bought the brakes because my other levers were broken. The threads for the barrel adjusters were completely torn through so under hard braking I pulled the cable right out of the brake lever assembly and ended up with no brakes at all.
Having done so im incredibly impressed with them, but I certainly would not have upgraded them if it wasnt a case of "this is stupid and dangerous rich".
Tyres... more important, having changed to contis Ive had one pun*ture so far and that was due to a beast of a piece of metal, that any pun*ture resistant tyre would have failed on.

pomps are getting really popular, round here; the pomp pro with carbon forks and other lightweight parts is the one for me - it looks f**king brilliant.
