Just got the Punto through the MOT and thought its time to give it a little TLC and refresh it a bit. I really like the combination of black and red and a friend has a black R type Civic with black/red interior which looks ace so thought Id Id do something in that flavour.
Looking at the following :
Seat covers : http://www.redlinemaxed.co.uk/line-black-universal-seat-covers-p-700.html (trying to work out if theyll fit ok)

Lockwood Dials in Red : http://www.redlinemaxed.co.uk/punto-with-counter-lockwood-dial-44ddd-p-593.html (although I have no idea how you fit them!)

Steering Wheel Cover Blac/Red : http://www.redlinemaxed.co.uk/blue-silver-steering-wheel-cover-p-528.html

Usually when I get these kind of ideas you guys have the reasons (usually perfectly valid!) why its a terrible idea!! So what do we all think?
Cheers,
Riv
Do NOT get:
Steering wheel covers
Seat covers
Both look great on screen/paper, but will look diabolically cheap and tacky when in your car.
Think of the chavs down the retail park car park

ARSE! I knew thered be a catch! Problem I have is the seat covers I really do need as the sport covers that came with the car are broken on the drivers side and have split at the back so you can see the actual seat. The steering wheel cover is similar to the one my driving instructor used to have and that was ok. Got to get something for this too as the leather steering wheel on the car is starting to show initial signs of wear I dont want it to start looking tatty.
Are there specific ones or places I can buy that sell good quality items that wont look cheap / chavvy?
Cheers!
Riv

When you start doing anything like this to a small car its going to look chavvy imo.

Really? I can understand if you stick in odd fitting or over the top things that it would but I dont see why it couldnt look ok if your just using quality items and subtle colours? Ive got to replace the seat covers as theyre ripped at the seams! :)
Save your money and buy an upgraded interior from a write off/ scrap car. Im sure there is a fancy interior from a fancy Punto Model, how about telling us the Year of Registration, ill have a peak around for you.
Just to give you an idea, i saw a Mk4 Golf Leather Interior with all door panels etc for £100, looks 100x better than sh*tty seat covers
Its an 05 Active Sport 1.2, 16v.
Just had the exact same recommendation from a friend so pretty much canning the covers idea. He said hell help me do the dials though :)

that looks a good?
You will probably get that for £50, i doubt many others will bid, but the front ones will need a bit of a clean.
Yeah - kinda wondering if the grass is greener now TBH. My seats are actually better looking (and a lot newer!) than those so might just look into getting the ripped cover fixed.
Ill probably give the whole car a full valet this weekend and see how I feel about it. I usually feel a lot better about it when its all shiney and new so maybe thats all it needs.
Cheers for the advice guys!
have a ring around.
My brother gets all his seats, etc. re-upholstery done locally quite cheaply.
gets a choice of coverings, trims, etc. for the door panels & seating, carpets, etc.
No idea how much he pays, but my brother doesnt have a lot of money to throw around,
but likes buying beaten up chav mobiles & doing them up.. he needs to realise hes pushing 40 :mutley:
leave it standard looking, and drop in the 2.0 20V engine.

Reminds me of someone ahem, cough Mark cough :D
A friend does interiors, it is actually cheaper to buy a leather interior from a scrap vehicle than it is to get it re-done, (i couldnt spell the big word!)

If I had the first idea how Id be doing that right now instead of browsing on here!! Fancy doing it for me? 8-)
2.0l Punto - man that would be sweet!!
Just been out and given it a good clean and already I love it again! Amazing what a good shine can do!

I was going to say the same. But without the 20v engine and just save your money and go to the pub!

Its definitely staying as it is - Id forgotten how damn nice it is when its gleaming!
20V 2.0 engine would be welcome though - I do miss the power a bit on the motorway lol!

Sell the punto and buy a Coupe Turbo! Or better still, dont buy Fiat. I bought a Stilo to sell on, it needed a new coil, fine £15 down the scrappy, but the Control Unit in the door that controls windows/mirrors etc, i have replaced it with 3 different units and the window is still playing up, so it will be sold in its current state which is a shame.

I really like Fiat - think theyve got an unfair rep TBH. The only Fiat car that Ive seen with major problems is the Stilo which I think most people know tends to have electrical faults all over the place (hence why I never bought one). I love my Punto though its awesome and just flew through the MOT with no problems. Needs new plugs but then its 4 years old now (probably time for new cam belt actually...)
The coupes are nice though!! :)
All clean! Love the little fella all over again!

I dont. Its well deserved. My Cinq went wrong daily.
Fun for the 5 minutes it worked.
the new ones are meant to be pretty good.
Id love one of those crazy fiat 500s. I like the bravos too.
Yeah the 500s are really nice. Cant make my mind up on the Grande Punto - still think the Mk2 Active Sport was better looking. Just wish mine had a bigger engine!
