Title: Request from me - Open for discussion.
Post by: Deaths Head on June 24, 2006, 18:30:40 PM
Please do not put the score in the subject header.  Some people (ie me) work nights so arent able to watch the match live.  Putting the score in the subject is a spoiler.

Do me a favour, dont do it.  Just put Germany vs Sweden or whatever, just dont include who won. :)

The law bit was tongue in cheek but since Brummie cannot abide then it is no longer tongue in cheek.

I would like to thank the people who have followed my request.  It means I can enjoy the games since I record them.

As I stated in the other thread, you have my support as this is beneficial to everyone that doesnt get to see the games straight away.

Its not a hardship for anyone to not mention scores in the thread titles or to warn about them. Making a big deal out of it is petty.

Unless anyone has any genuine objections I am happy for the rule to stay.

It is only for the remainder of the world cup.  Then normal operation resumes.

tbh, I think it should be a "forever" rule.

That way people can browse the forums while at work and not have to worry about the result of any sporting event being thrown in their face.

Youll also have to ban people from mentioning it in other threads...i.e "going down the pub later to celebrate the win" in a waffle thread

Well it shouldnt need to go that far and there are bound to be exceptions, but for the most part it is a sensible precaution.

seems fair enough for most games

except for one situation

if england win the final then I reckon youd be hard pushed to avoid finding out about it before watching the recording & there would no doubt be threads about it saying Yeeeessssss! what a win etc...

in fact avoiding spoilers in titles in general is a good idea - not just for the world cup but all sports tbh... + warnings before revealing any film spoilers - tis just courtesy towards peeps who havent seen it yet.

I would agree with that, means anyone who wants to record a sporting event for later watching is covered.
