Is it possible to disable an alarm on a 100?
Not that Ive just bought one or anything, Im asking on behalf of a friend who wants to know.
Yeah, uh... his names Bob, hes bought it just to do til he gets his tax rebate and next few pay-packets, its not a permament thing. Definitely not. Anyway, Bob couldnt care less about it getting nicked, hed rather not have to worry about turning the alarm off or not being able to drive it anywhere because of intermittent, erroneous tooting from said alarm.
(Oh God, the shame :whoops: )
IIRC its behind the glove box and can be removed.
its been a few years mind (about 10) since i worked on cars
i dont think it can, the imobiliser/alarm is built into the ecu.
does it have remote locking?
Ya, remote locking except it doesnt work. It makes the horn go off - is there just a wire going to the horn. wtf is the horn anyway? Bob had a look today but couldnt see it..
if you can find the alarm, find the wire thats going positive when the alarm sounds and chop it :)
it if does the lights etc.. too then chop em as well
if you remove it / chop all of them the impoblisor will rpobably be perm. on :(
Yes it can be removed, Dont ask me how though,
My mate took his rover deathtrap to the local garage and he sorted it.
Not sure about Rover 100s but i do know on older Fords that the immobiliser/alarm can be disabled if the connect the two black wires going in together. Put a fuse on it for a professional job :)
Basically you need to find which wires to use to by-pass it.
Multimeter is your friend.
