Worked out the cost of cover for 2 weeks or 1 month
For 2 weeks the cost is £100
For 1 Month the cost is £165
For 1 year (normal insurance) the cost is £330
How the f**k do they get those figures.
Because if it was £6 a week people would jump insurance companies every couple of weeks. Its the same reason a tin of Coke is 60p but a case of Coke in the wholesale is a fiver.
Ive looked into it before as well and 90% of the time its not worth it. Last time I used it it was cheaper to pay the extra for the person who owned the vehicle to upgrade their insurance to fully comp that allowed others to drive.
Main time temp insurance is used is when passing through a country that requires it because tho 1 month is only 50% the cost of a year, a year would be completely pointless and any saving is a saving :P

It still doesnt make sense when i can go get a rental car with insurance (i presume) for the same price.

I cant this time unfortunately, its a spare car of my parents, however there insurer has given them a good deal on Social, Domestic and pleasure, meaning if they wanted to change it to commute they would have to start a new policy, pretty sucky if you ask me :P
youll have to check, but doesnt the insurance paperwork say something like "normally used for social" etc...
so if you use it for commuting a few times its no big deal ?

I did check, its an SDP policy on a car they rarely use, and besides the insurer was notified from my first call that i intended to use it for commuting, its not worth the chance of getting caught out.
Today i bought a Megarider bus pass for £12 unlimited bus rides for a week, ill get up 30 mins earlier and catch 2 buses and walk the rest of the way, and ill save a f**king packet, maybe ill stick this out for 2 weeks until payday and get an even better car!
Bets on how long i last on public transport.
2 days? :D
Usually get it when buying a car because I want to sit and shop around for my insurance policy :) Just pay for two days to get the car home from where ever in the country and a second day to give it a good drive and decide what needs replacing and what needs seeing too :)
I usually just add it to my insurance.
