Title: Some c*nt......
Post by: Rivkid on April 04, 2008, 09:26:33 AM
Just ran in the back of me and then drove off!! Cheeky bastard! Sadly for him my girlfriend works for the councils parking team and not only wrote down his license but also phoned up and flagged the CCTV footage.

I cant believe he hit me to be honest. We were only going about 20/15 mph in traffic moving towards the lights and as I approached them they went red so I stopped. Bang! Clearly wasnt watching the road.

Doesnt appear to be any damage luckily but Im still pissed off that he didnt stop. Drove it to work and the car was slow, unresponsive and bumpy - so pretty sure its all ok! Poor little Rover - she isnt built for such things...

I know its not the sensible thing to do or whatnot, but I think if someone rammed into the back of me and thought theyd drive off Id chase them down and get their reg. Absolute scum!

Yep, get him done for leaving the scene of an accident. And start getting a sore neck in the next couple of days. Mind you, if he drove off, theres a good chance he isnt insured.

How did he drive off with the red lights still on? Or was there just 30 seconds of "He hit us. Is he getting out? Should I get out?..."

He might have reversed and turned around, shot down a little side street or any thing could have happened.

Id call the police and report the car for leaving the scene of an accident.

Complain to the police, the driver is possibly driving without insurance, licence, or may not own the vehicle at all.

Even if the car initially seems OK there may be damage that you are unaware of or cant see, plastic bumpers are notorious for deforming, damaging the underlying metal, and then returning to shape. The bumper may look perfect but underneath there might be a load of hidden damage.

Never give an opinion about it either if someone stays and exchanges details, thats for a mechanic to decide. Same with medical problems resulting from crashes.

Another idea is to carry a camera, even a disposable would do. Take pics of the car that hits you and the driver if you can. Then photograph any damage to your own vehicle.

Nah the red light didnt last long and we were right in the middle of a very busy road at rush hour - you couldnt just get out. I signalled to him to pull over left and he nodded then I changed my signal from right to left. I went forward and left into a side street and then instead of following me he cheesed it right over the bridge and out of town.

Ah that sucks.

Last summer a lady drove into the back of me whilst in bumper to bumper traffic. We werent going anywhere anytime soon so just got out there and then. She was quite nice and everything got sorted. Later on she told me a few weeks later some blokes did the same to her but she was too scared to get out to sort things out so left it :(
