I got a NIP from south wales police today for doing 38 in a 30 on 04/02/08 in the MG in Barry.
strange thing is though, I sold the MG on 02/01/08 and I havent been to Barry for years.
:panic:

because you have the tear off thing (notice of change of owner) at the bottom which is the previous owners responsibility to send to the DVLA
yea its now the previous owners responsibility to notify the DVLA of change of ownership
ill let you guys off, just read the back of the slip and it says i was supposed to send it off :-o no one told me :gag:
Phone the police and tell them its a Rover.
Get in contact with the cops and tell them the car has recently changed ownership.
Then ring up the DVLA and ask why you havent been notified of the change of ownership yet, as you sent the slip off the day you sold the car.

And *always protest innocence* even if you are guilty as hell.
Id recommend following the above advice.
I had a rather more serious such encounter - I sold a car which I didnt change keepers details (And neither did the new keeper)
First I heard about it was a loud bang from 4 miles away as it blew up in front of a local police station with a rather large car bomb in it.
Thankfully they realised that it probably wasnt me.
