Ok,
Ive been looking through the bike mags recently and ive been thinking about doing some mountain bike races - everything from one off XC slogs to these 24hr team affairs...
...Alot of my mates who would race have moved away, got fat/gone on the turn and are no longer up for these sort of events...
...so why not try and put together a team tekheads team?!
Anyone interested?
You dont have to be super fit - just able to ride as hard as YOU physically can and have a laugh.

itd be good to get some folks off here in a team - youd need a bike which would not break, or fail safety checks at races, but other than that the worlds our lobster...
edit: id be singlespeeding in these races, of course. ;)
If I lose this excess baggage (77 lbs to go! :D) and get enough money together to buy a nice MTB. Id be up for it. Failing that what about just making a team that does all of the things?
MTB, Road... (I want to get into AUDAX) could be like ITEAM :) (google it). Plus I wants a jersey at some point and tekforums seems like a cool name to have on it :D lol.

Road is much harder than off roading in my opinion...
it depends on the races, but the roadies are shaven legged, tip top condition psychos in alot of cases and it would be more geared to winning and competing rather than having fun.
mountain biking (when i raced as a sprog in 95-7) was all about fun - getting on your rickety old rig, hitting the trails, getting caked in mud and crashing, alot...
my last race was at bingley in 97, i raced on a fully rigid dawes, wore bermuda shorts and a roady jersey - i looked a sight, but it was the most fun ive had in ages at a race...

True good point, however audaxing isnt really racing so you could go and have fun, same with sportives (just timed audaxes). Still I do see your point :)

roadies = lycra, clipless pedals, tea and biscuits.

I dont ride but would consider myself very fit atm. Im looking to get into biking more so yes id be in. Id be very interested in the 24hr race :)
