Title: Time to get a bike.
Post by: Walrusbonzo on October 12, 2008, 15:06:53 PM
Ive got my letter of collection now for the cycle to work scheme that Ive just joined.

Would this be a good choice?

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_241933_categoryId_165710

Would be looking to buy a couple of bottle cages and a cadence reader too.

Its not too bad, but im loathed to buy anything from halfrauds. See if your local bike shop runs the scheme too.

edit.  just seen the wheels.  The Carrera Vanquish would be a more suitable first timers road bike.  First time you misjudge a pothole youd wreck those.  The boardman is a good weekend, play bike.
For a useable everyday bike you want more spokes and alloy forks.  More resiliant to bumps and knocks.  Especially after reading about the numptys in the cars and bikes forum.

Im not a Halfords fan either, but unfortunately the scheme is only with Halfords, so I have no choice there.

I was asking another friend for his opinion and he suggested the Carrera Vanquish also.  So Im going for that along with a whole load of accessories.

Hopefully Ill get it all this week or next. Cheers :D

my missus got this deal, paid for a grands worth of vouchers and it cost her 700 over 12 months. got a kona lisa four and a sh*tload of cool accessories.

halfrauds might have a shocking selection of bikes. but they can also order from any manufacturer, so choose very carefully. you dont have to get a stock item, they dont supply Kona but can order it for the bike to work scheme.

Yes, tells you your pedal rpm.
