Title: Top Gear
Post by: Jaimz on August 03, 2009, 03:00:31 AM
So another season is finished, cant say it was one of the best ones imo, some good segments (episode 2 was pretty good with the 17 year olds car challenges/lambo sv, macca f1 vs veyron) and some not so good (VW ads in tonights ep for example). All still watchable though.

What the hell was with the ending though?! That was weird as... Thoughts?!

I wanted to see the bit with the stig facing up to a t-rex which they showed at the start of the series in "whats to come this series" but oh well :(

The last segment was, bizarre, but I enjoyed it immensely.

Zpyder, the T-Rex segment was shown a few weeks back, something about how they normally drive angry dinosaur like cars around the track and wanted to do something different if memory serves.

Considering the beeb announced the next series will be proceeded by the Italian Job Special, Do not think it will be the last.

certainly felt like he was trying to tell us something like that. my thoughts were that theyre being made to focus on the reviews and not so much of the silly stuff. i cant see any of them being interested in that though.

the VW ads thing was just painful. it was either scripted or a total wind up.

Clarkson nearly quit because of all the silly stuff a couple of seasons back, so getting back to the cars seems more likely to be the way they want to go.

As Nige says, theyre coming over to Belfast to drive down our shiny new sewer system in an Italian Job remake, so its not the end of Top Gear.

It was pretty emotional though.

EDIT:

"What happens now? A little bit of time off for the crew and then we're straight back into filming for series 14 later in the year."

I know I saw a it last week I think, or the week before where they had the cars driving around a bunch of dinos, but not that particular stig moment, will be gutted if it was on during the 30 secs I missed while out of the room :(

It was, I distinctly remember seeing it in an actual episode. It was nothing special, just that one shot.

Bah :(

I had kinda hoped it would be their way of replacing the stig if they wanted to now its out that its Ben Collins (or is it?) - Would be a good way to go, eaten by a t-rex.

Ill put my hand up and admit that I watch top gear mostly for the sillyness rather than the cars.

Should have just asked, I could have told you in one.  8-)

Its always used as "generic sad song" in things but in reality its actually very different if you consider it in its original context. Its a great album if you like the track and more approachable than most of Enos work.

Yup, I recognised it from the 28 Days later soundtrack, though couldnt place the moment its used. As its called "An Ending" though Im guessing it was near/at the end!

I seriously want a High Res pic of the explosion for the Car Ad as wallpaper.  Epic stuff.

Watch the non-narrative version of "For All Mankind". It fits in beautifully and adds a lot of depth and emotion to some of those stock NASA shots from Apollo 11 that weve all seen a million times.
