LOL - reminds me of the alleged discussion with the US aircraft carrier:
QuoteCanadians: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South to
avoid collision.
Americans: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the
North to avoid a collision.
Canadians: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15
degrees to the South to avoid a collision.
Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again,
divert YOUR course.
Canadians: No, I say again, you divert YOUR course.
Americans: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN, THE SECOND
LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE
ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS
SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES
NORTH--I SAY AGAIN, THATS ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH--OR
COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.
Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.
Sadly not true, but still funny
And posted a few times now on the forums. Even mythbusters believed it and mentioned when they messed with speed cameras with cars then birds (birds actually do set them off)
Sidewinders are heat seaking air to air missiles and not air to ground ones. Obviously a fake.

Looked fake to me as well, but still funny :)
that one has been floating around the internet for longer than I have. At least the last time I heard it they had the decency to look up a sensible missile.
Stormshadow may have been more appropriate ;)
"Hostile Radar Equipment"

Reason I know that one was during the Falklands war the British had the latest 9L version, while the Argentinians had an earlier version. The 9L could lock onto enemy planes from any angle while the Argentinian ones couldnt.

last time I saw it, the missile was supposed to be a HARM I think
After looking up what it actually does, its not so appropriate after all
My knowledge of weapons is more navy based than RAF lol.
