I beleive a new series of topgear starts tonight. 9pm.
Dont forget.
Indeed. Is also showing on BBCHD if youre so equipped.
Yey! I now have a reason to turn my TV on!
GAH
Thats when house is on. And then Fringe.
Why oh why do they have to put everything on at the same time, when if they spread it out theyd guarantee everyone would be able to watch it :(
sky+ f00 ;)
Can watch it on iPlayer for a week after airing so not end o world if you miss it :)
Set the PS3 to record it.
Thanks!
Thanks for the reminder :ptu: :ptu: :ptu:
that was a great show!
Was a good episode, quite like that ferrari cali
Jaimz
Damn I missed it, will watch it in the week :)
epp.2 was much better than 1 !
Tbh preferred 1 over 2 :|
Am curious to see if this series theyll put in about the Veyron in the drink in the news section. Showed it to my Siss BF and hes adamant its a viral, same with the MW2 pyscho kid. I tried to point out that not all popular/weird vids are deliberate virals ><
lol dammit my reminder to watch it is always reading about what happened! Think Ill go watch it on iPlayer now :)
Ep 2 sucked imo. Cant believe they took apart a chimera to make a POS electric car, even if it did look a bit battered.

I thought it was a great car, considering it had a 6k budget, but granted it looked sh*t, if it had been done by a true mechanic im sure he would have tidied it up a bit.
I am however shocked how they can get away with driving it on the road with patio chairs...plastic patio chairs.

Pah patio chairs are safe, i regularly use a vehicle thats capable of over 140mph and all i have is a piece of leather covered foam and no belt at all.
Itd be interesting to see the behind the scenes stuff to see just how many safety checks are made etc. Even things like when they let it roll down the hill theyd probably spend an hour or two with high vis jackets to make sure the path is clear etc? :D

Actually from a legal point of view, im certain a non fastened plastic patio chair would fail the MOT, the only time i have seen a car pass an MOT that seemed dodgy, was an really old car with seats that reclined without any locking mechanism, but then it had no seatbelts either, but its age related afaik and the car on Top Gear was an L reg? 1994.
maybe they can get permission to drive if they have a car in front of it and a car behind it ? flashy lights etc... stunt/fake drivers etc... just some clever camera angles to hide it ?

More than likely! :w00t:
Trash this evening, rubbish :gag:
Are you kidding, that was one of most low key yet entertaining episodes Ive seen a while. I cant remember the last time I chuckled so much at an episode of TG.
I thought it was great aswell.
was it the airship one ?
can;t remember if its the repeat on a sunday, or the sunday one is the fresh ep. ?
the sunday was is fresh.
they had some airport vehicle racing and a serious review of the renault twingo sport.
Question is what is the music playing in the tunnel segment this week? I was trying to place it as Im fairly sure its been used in some FPS game or similar, and likely elsewhere too.
There were a few other tracks in last nights ep I was trying to place too, its a shame they dont list the music at the end in the credits, usually I can recognise the tunes as its 9/10 something I like/have on the computer!
EDIT:
HAha, I answered my own Q. It was music from Gears of War! No wonder it seemed so familiar, though I kept thinking it was Crysis ><
Now I just want to know what was playing in the Rangerover clips, sounded a bit like Hive or something...
That Overfinch Holland & Holland Range rover was possibly the most desireable vehicle ive ever seen.
More links, info and pics here (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/26/holland-and-holland-range-rover-by-overfinch-gun-and-booze-haulin/). I really enjoyed the episode, think it could have done without the airport races, didnt seem to be much need or reason for it.
I really liked Jezs review, think they could get away with more ~proper reviews like that.
You see, I like the episodes which have more non-car stuff. I tend to go and put the kettle on whenever theyre doing laps. As far as I am concerned regarding most of the cars, sure theyre interesting to look at, and things like the two-way screen in last nights ep are amazing, but beyond that I know Ill likely never even see one of these cars IRL, let alone be able to sit in one, or even ever earn the money needed to buy one, plus the realist in me sees them as a waste of money considering the consumption and insurance etc to go with, but all that aside its an interesting and foremost entertaining show. If they increased the car stuff and decreased the entertainment Id probably stop watching...

Yeah that was cool :)
The rest, rubbish, the crap race at the start that they have done countless times before.
The crap review at the end of the Twingo was just laced with too much recycled humour, it has some interesting bits I guess.
The sh*te tunnel flip stunt (that Im guessing like most things on top gear is fake) the sh*te driving a car into the channel stunt, yes that wasnt predictable honest...
In a nutshell I think they need to stop being
too funny, its not working.
It made me laugh at least :P
I found the episode entertaining overall, but like Matt Im finding its starting to wear a bit thin now and proving far too formulaic. Tried and tested only goes so far.

They could try the old trick of not making so many and pace the show out more, cut back to 6 episodes a year, 3 at the start, 3 at the end.
Tbh I found the latest top gear the worst of the lot as it was more car and less entertainment this time round :D
I think they should stop now.
its not as good as it used to be but it is still the only thing I make a point of watching.
This sundays special sounds promising.
The foreign specials have always been outstanding tv, Ill agree.
Theyve redeemed the failing quality of this last series with one amazing special. I think that was their last high note now, theyll never produce a special of that magnitude and quality again, and the reglar eps will only get worse I think. Probably time to pull the plug and come out gracefully or come up with a new creative direction for the regular shows.
I recorded it on sky HD, must watch it now

yeah it was good..... it was still a bit more rehearsed than the old ones used to be tho.... pulling over and pretending to make decisions theyd obv. already made off camera...
oh... and did anyone else spot the stunt man driver ? only saw him for a split sec.... odd they let it through for TV.... maybe its a publicity stunt ?
(the bit where Jeremy is driving alone, and has to pass another 4x4 coming the other way.... the white one)
I didnt think it was that good, compared to the likes of the vietnam special.
But then I didnt know how much of me not liking the ep that much was me grimacing with the destruction of the rainforest at the start, no matter how small...

That was quite obviously done on purpose I think too, just the way Jeremy would want to wind up environmentalists.

Was it really? I never noticed, even on the closeup as the rocks started slipping it looked like Jeremy.
it was a very good ep, not as good as some of the specials like the USA and Vietnam ones but cant expect too much, apparently they have had their budget more than halved.
It was crazy when he was squeezing past the White 4x4 on that mountain.
I think there was quite alot of staged stuff in it, well hidden though.
No way they built that bridge themselves.
No way they fixed/modded the cars themselves.
And Hammond let his car roll down the hill on purpose, must have been a H&S issue with only 2wheel drive.

That was small fry though - that stuff will grow back quickly.
You want to see the mess the locals make of the place. Disgraceful.
Oh believe me I know. In the scheme of things if it was just them doing that damage, it would actually be beneficial in a way, acting the same way as when trees fall in the rainforest, providing light for other plants to grow. The damage they caused was less than some of the damage made to harvest a single tree Id imagine in some cases. I just felt uncomfortable watching it thinking it wasnt exactly required...

I think it was JC, or if it was a stunt man its was a dead ringer for him.
actually... I think youre right...
slowed it down to 1/10th of normal speed....
it is him.... just doesnt look much like him... its only for a fraction of a second... at 46:17 on my vid...
I did wonder though whether there was a net out of shot, or whether in fact it was at the base of the mountain somewhere relatively safe to fall that they edited together.
It looked a bit odd to me - the white car couldve been closer to the cliff ..or if the road really was that hairy he could have backed up fifty feet to where the road was nice and wide.
The thing to remember is, do you really think that in the event of someone coming the other way theyd have stopped them and asked "Will it be ok if we film this car passing you, would you mind waiting an hour whilst we set the cameras up?", its staged, just how much ? :D
