When rolling, the car idles at 1500rpm
Car jolts when steady on the throttle, and EM light comes on.
When rolling down a hill, EM light comes on and when it comes to idle it dies.
Sometimes reluctant to start.
New sump and/or gasket, rocker cover gasket and cambox gasket. The car sometimes smells of burning oil but there isnt any smoke so I think its dripping somewhere. When the cars parked up it doesnt leave any fluids on the floor.
Also, when the tank is full and the weather is hot, I can smell petrol inside and around the car, but again its not leaving anything on the floor.
All the doors stick to the rubbers, one back door one is split and both back doors rattle and sound funny when you close them,
Steering wobbles at motorway speeds, no matter how many times I get the wheels balanced.
Central locking/alarm just gave up
Peeing PAS fluid out the rack
Oil all over the gearbox, think its leaking
No oil pressure on startup for a good 5-6 seconds, sounds terrible.
Smells hot/burning oil, but its sposed to smell like that :D
All them problems and it still drives great and goes like stink.
hole in the exhaust
only two of the five window washers work (two front ones, meaning my back window is most of the time useless).
the airbag light is on, suggesting theyve stopped working.
it always is dodgy to start.
the back doors are really hard to shut
the boot wont lock
sounds like that ones had a rear ender
*Eats front tyres -need to align front end.
*eaking a little oil from end of camshaft seal had a shop fix it twice but it still leaks.
*Back door doesent lock.
*Heater fan works on full speed only.
*Roof areial broken of.
My window doesnt always wanna go up.
Patch of rust on Bonnet. - I need to replace the bonnet.
Exhaust blows - I already have the replacement Back Box.
Dent on roof where some scrote walked over the car. I could see the shoe marks.
She drinks oil.
Passenger side windscreen wiper no longer connected to driver-side wiper (& hence wiper-motor).
She judders sometimes when moving off, also when weather was cold she made an amusing fweeeep noise at high revs.
14 y/o Daihatsu: needs an A/C charge and the alternator belt tightened a bit.

things wrong
when going over bumps, causes spoiler on boot to rub against back of car slightly. its only in 2 tiny areas (one on the left, one on the right, obviously) but it is down to the metal.. Ill get a pic later.
warranty will sort that - common Yaris problem.
:edit:
well, piccies.
It occurs here, where the spoiler sits flush with the C pillar area.

Down to the metal on the left
not half as bad on the right for some reason:

things I dont like
I want to sort a stone chip on the front out, but thats hardly something wrong :P
It has some bodyroll..... email sent though, prices on the way on the remedy ;) ;) insurance premium wont go up huzzah, only Ã,£25 admin fee.
air-con could do with a recharge (4yr old car, so its due tbh)
id like a faster steering rack...
id like braided brake-lines to give a nicer pedal feel (fluids been done afaik)
more ponies
guess I just miss the Mazda :P ...this thing aint as sporty (but so much easier to live with, and WAY cheaper to feed!! so its not all bad, at all.)
nowt really, theres an oil stain on the bonnet, at least think it, it wont polish out
oh and the thing that displays the oil level when u start up says its below minimum, but when i check with the dipstick its just below full
oh and its letting air in on the driver door somewhere, pisses me off sometimes
Plastic bits a little loose, a weak parcel shelf and a very slight oil leak. Thats it really.
/me rubs mahogany
My car has a few niggly faults, mostly minor electrical (panel lights dont work, headlight buzzer has stopped working etc) but mechanically it is sound and its bodywork is perfect aside from a large scrape on the front bumper.
Quote from: niTheres nothing wrong with my car (2000 M-B A160 Avantgarde), its just about perfect! Want to buy it? I just bought a new car!
yes there is.. its an A class  ;)
iv never had a car upside down
but an A class ISNT a lot of car for your money lol its tiny and overpriced :P i do love the C classs tho
edit:
yes iv driven a C class, was a 220 Avantgarde, unbelievably comfy and smooth auto mmmmm
meh call me old fashioned but i like a bit of car between me and other cars, big boots and big bonnets lol the A class and smart cars dont give me any confidence
Mines a Renault so.... "everything" to answer the original question.
Never, ever, ever buy a new Renault.
Its been in under warrenty getting fixed for more time than its been on the road, and what do Renault say? "Sorry about that".
W*nkers.  :x
lol so its true then
Quote from: niYes its tiny, but only on the outside.
Sounds like my Yaris :)
I took myself & 4 passengers, + luggage off to the cotswolds for a holiday.
I was quite dubious as to whether wed get everything in, but we did - without having bags on feet and all that - it all went in the boot.
And everyone was comfortable - the other choice was a 96 celica without air-conditioning. Would have been hell, compared to the Yaris :)
As to "car between me and other cars" no biggie, Yaris has 4-star NCAP rating. its probably safer than a lot of big older cars :P have faith in modern construction techniques & materials = light small
AND strong
i did see a program where they drove a corsa (remotly) into a solid concrete barrier at 70mph head on, was quite interesting to see that the cabin was pretty intact, altho apparently you wouldnt survive the deceleration anyway
Yeah, I saw a similiar thing on (the rather cacky) 5th gear where they did a smart car @ 70 into many tonnes of concrete - car survived fine. could still open and close the door as if nothing had happened!
but thats the thing - the speeds we drive at generally exceed the g-forces the human body can withstand, when those speeds are brought to 0 rather rapidly
theres nothing necessarily unsafe about small cars - chances are at speed X youll die because were 70%+ water :P
only way of making really safe cars is to make all cars tiny.... but have several metres of crumple zones on the front & rear :P which would look ridiculous. (but make sub 30mph accidents quite comfortable ;) )
everything works on my car.... but its full of crap
drove down to milton keens last week (from newcastle) was about 4 hours to get there...... took 8 hours to get back bacause of an accident on the motaway :(
so cba to clean it out once i got back.... and still cant... its full of marsbar wrappers and info. about the machine i was looking at.
Well turns out after all that my sump has gone porous, the whole thing is being replaced, Ã,£120 all in :(
Old cars are a PITA, and this one is reliable.
Mine has loads wrong with it TBPH but it still chugs along nicely :) and passes its mots with ease to date so im happy. Dont need a fancy new car for what i use it for.
if i made a list id be here a while id guess
insidently if i put in 30 qids fuel in it @ 99.9p/litre how much mpg i get if that gets me about 300miles? i think i worked it out @ 45mpg, that right?

About right, just from the overall look of the figures
Quote from: moony1234Never, ever, ever buy a new Renault.
Had two Meganes from new, totalling nearly nine years on the road.
Just three HT coils replaced and a current oil leak in the front off-side gaiter says different. ;)
Really should get that sorted though - its making a helluva droning/buzzing noise! Is it serious?... :?:
Ã,Â
But the brakes! Over-servoed! Have you the calf muscles of a girl?

sounds like a wheel bearing tbh, but that is nothing to do with the oil leak.
in theory if you drove to long with the wheel bearing nackered the wheel could come off, but i have done a few thousand miles on one before without any trouble, just a head ache.
