PS Its the same with Golf GTI alloy centrecaps and badges that sell for horrendous money on Ebay because people will pay it :P

Ive had 2 MK1 Golf GTi written off from under me, rear-end shunts to both of them. Would love another, but you know, dickheads are willing to pay far too much money for them. Then half of them get RUINED with stupid bodykits
and alloy wheels that just dont suit the car.

I know a lad who has a nice MK1 Cabby sat on ATS Cups, i know he is taxing it for RTTS this weekend, it was built for a previous RTTS and pretty much lives in his storage now, it has his very own handy work inside in form of a leather interior.
No idea if he would consider selling it though :P
I also love the MK1 but alas its a bit of a squeeze for me, the MK2 was a little better, but MK3 and MK4 which i have owned have both been much more comfortable

how tall are you?! Im 63" and Ive no issues fitting in a Mk1, they are about the smallest thing I can actually drive without being uncomfortable!

The 1.6 came out of the factory on the Look-Like-Alloy Steel wheels, the 2nd one I knew the owner of, and he had but the silly OZs on it, and it too had come out of the factory with the same/similar wheels. I wanted mine left stock, so I hunted around for the right wheels. At the time it wasnt hard to find parts for them in scrap yards, these days its a lot harder by the look of things!

Similar, but those look like the alloy version. They didnt come out of the factory with Alloys as standard IIRC, they were an extra cost. Even the MK2 didnt as normal unless you paid extra. Mine where a 1980 (V-Reg) and a 1983 (A-Reg). The first one I rebuilt myself from a bodyshell upwards, the second one had a blown head and had been parked up by the owner and dumped under a sheet in a barn (got to love farmers).
