Title: Adobe to Sue Microsoft for PDF Feature?
Post by: ERU on June 04, 2006, 23:26:28 PM
QuoteMicrosoft and Adobe appear to be headed for court after talks to include PDF support in Office 2007 broke down, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. The dispute has been brewing for the past four months, Microsofts lead counsel Brad Smith disclosed.

Smith said Adobe threatened to sue in Europe, and that the company was preparing for that eventuality. Adobe wants the feature removed and offered separately, which Microsoft has done. However, it also wants Microsoft to charge for it, which the Redmond company refuses to do.

Quote from: wikipediaPDF is also an open standard in the sense that anyone may create applications that read and write PDF files without having to pay royalties to Adobe Systems.

Adobes angle is pretty weak, unless they play the monopoly card.

Yes, loads of them. The main thing with this though is that if they force M$ to do what they want they then might do the same to everyone else.

FFS its one thing stopping a company using your products but forcing them to use it is a bit OTT. TBH i dont much like both companies but i hope Adobe fall on their arse here.
