Whats on your main PC?
Mainly windows 7 here, but the spare lappy has XP, and the desktop is also booting XP64 to play old games.
Win7 all the way
They were discussing upgrading some of the computers that the instruments run on in the labs, at least Win7 has slightly better backwards compatibility than vista.
I dont think Ive encountered a single application I couldnt run in W7, other than one made in 1997 that has to be run in a XP virtual machine in win 95 compatibility mode :|
Windows 7 here, and the only reason I would consider something older such as XP put on a spare rig would be for retro gaming.
Windows 7 on everything. Its awesome
Windows 7 since release :D
Still have XP discs if someone wants to buy em with a licence :P
Interesting how the vote for mac appeared three times faster than all the rest...
www.7.com
xp on the 4 laptops though
13-1, Blimey
Use XP on desktop as autodata not working properly on 7. Laptop is 7 as I have everything working now, for everything else theres vmware workstation (Except autodata as it wont work in a VM)
XP still basically bullet proof so using that on the desktop
Windows 7 starter on the netbook
XP on the work lappy.

how could it have done it was the second vote? tool.
any chance of the forum antagonists dropping the broken record please?
XP > Ubuntu now 10.04 LTS yeah there is a 10.10 but I see no need for it yet.
Im on Windows 7 because I have a Core i7 8GB workstation. However, I still run various XP virtual machines for work purposes.
Linux on my laptop and netbook, Linux/WinXP dual boot on my Desktop, WinXP on my work machine.
My little sisters lappy has 7 on it, must say Im quite impressed. I wouldnt go to the hassle of upgrading (at least not yet), but if I bought a computer with it on Id be pleased.
Im on 7 on my laptop, and two media centres, still got XP on my netbook, but if I could get a cheepo version of 7 for it then Id upgrade that too, especially as its SSD and 7 works better on that than XP.
Overalll Im very impressed with it and actually prefer it to XP, and I really liked XP!
My upgrade path (from 98 era):
Win 98 SE > Win 2k > XP SP1+ > W7
XP for me, it still works fine I dare say Ill get Win7 eventually maybe if I get a SSD. Im not a big fan of the interface but I dare say Ill get used to that. The biggest problem is the price, Id have to go for the professional version as it seems the best all round and its about £90 which is just too much at the mo.
If you know any students then you can get it for a lot less..
Good point, I happen to know a couple so might just see what they can do, thanks!
I use a mix, one has Win 7 the other 2 still have XP.
Decided to get 7 before the realise after being impressed by the RC so pre-ordered it and put it on my HTPC, which is the comp I use most.
Only upgraded my gaming computer to it a couple of months ago, was using Vista so was glad to get rid of that bloated POS! binned the DVD as well. lol
XP and Ubuntu on my laptop, but it is old so won't be getting upgraded

I just saw that and amazed people still think its funny. No one can be that bored all that time surly?
If you want to use a lot of memory on a PC you got to get off XP and into 64bit. Windows 7 is pretty dam nice when you use it a lot to be honest. Compared to the bag of wank Vista MS really knuckled down.
MS in general seem to finally start getting it. Their xbox team had the right idea and there has always been some things MS do well but their interface and user oriented elements of their software they just had no clue.
New windows mobile OS, Windows 7, improvements to Xbox, stuff their working on, surface... They are getting it and it is nice to see them competing.
There is only one really major thing I would like to see in windows.
Better UI for software support.
Mac apps simply offer better interface design because they have the tools to do so. Windows 7 is nearly there. Firefox 4 looks really nice for example on it but they just need that bit more.
MSN Messenger:
The new one has some bloat to it, its MS so old habits die hard but its rather nice. I love how it finally has facebook chat support for example.
I know the whole package with the other apps is terrible, Nige regrets installing it, lol.
I really do regret installing it, its shocking. The new Facebook chat integration is the single redeeming feature of it.
No, Microsoft, everytime someone links me to a funny photo or youtube video I dont want you to expand the window and present me with a full screen presentation of whatever it is. I dont need you to warn me every time I click on a link that Im leaving Messenger, OH NOES
Windows 7 only

I find myself using a mix.
Office workstation is Windows 7 Professional
Home gaming desktop is XP, will be Windows 7 in a few months.
Work Laptop/Casual Laptop is Mac OSX SL with Virtuals, which I find myself using for everything but gaming. My opinion of OSX has changed positively somewhat since I decided to try it seriously
