Some may remember my GF4 Ti4200 blew up last month due to a cooling system malfunction (thats similar to a hollywood wardrobe malfunction except with coolant in place of cleavage ;)).

Well I managed to pick up a replacement for all of £6 on fleabay. Plugged it in, booted up, got about halfway into windows and died.

So now I am presented with a dilema, either the replacement GFX card was just no good to start with (lets face it, £6 second hand on ebay, it might be) or my machine has taken to blowing up GFX cards. It has been running my GF1 DDR quite happily since the accident though.

Ideas on which is more likely? do I try again or just put up with the GF DDR until I can afford an actual upgrade?

knighty

did you ewatercool the new card ?

I once forgot to put any thermal compound on a card and it lasted till just before windows.... :(

Beaker

New board, CPU, memory and GFX I would suggest.

can probably do that for under £100 if you are happy enough with a 4200 you can use a decent onboard GFX.
