Title: Anyone got an Asus UL30?
Post by: Beaker on March 27, 2010, 21:19:57 PM
Im looking at one of these for The Wife as her lappy is on its last legs.  Final straw is the USB ports have packed up _just_ after the extended warranty ran out on her old Fujtsu :(

Shes after something smallish and light, but with a decent screen.  Also £400 and under.  I can get one with a staff discount, for £360 so its definitely in the running.  Just wanted to see if anyone has one, or has any other suggestions on a 13.3" 1366 x 768, or something in the 14" widescreen mark.  She doesnt want a netbook, she needs a larger screen and keyboard!

Get a refurbed one of these:

Spend the extra cash on a larger HDD (1.8" PATA ZIF) and more memory.

Funny that, I dont want to have another dell laptop ever again considering how quickly mine started to go wrong. The screens nearly dead on mine, its 5 years old, but has barely been touched in the last 3.5 years. The screen started to die right about the 18 month mark, funny that!

Strange.

Ive got an old Dell D505 that needed a new screen (previous owner shut a pen in it or something)
The case is cracked and battered, works like a charm.  1.25gb ram and Windows 7.
