Im looking for some icons for an application I am tendering for. The client has made it quite apparent that they are as interested in the flowery aspects of the application as they are in the apps ability to do its job :o
So I need to get my hands on some decent graphics. The problem I have is that all of the sites I have come across so far are charging a fortune for huge icon sets. I only want a small selection from their vast libraries...
...does anyone here know of a site (or a person) that does cheap/pick and buy type icons ?
How about you advertise on here for somoene to design you some. No doubt you will get some top notch work done for a slice of what you would normally have to pay.
sign up for this, then mail me and Ill send you some deliveries...

There are thousands of open source icon sets, why not use them?

I thought about this and I may do that if I get the contract. At this point I am just tendering and I dont have the time to go through the refinement process. Im really looking for something thats good to go.

Ive signed up but having a quick look through there are only a couple of sets that look like they are for business use; the majority are more "fun" styles. That said, could you please send me: Anaheim Alert and anything else to do with networky type applications.

Please feel free to chuck me some links. All of the icon sites I come across are charging hundreds of dollars; I wouldnt mind if they were one off custom sets but its a bit much for a bunch of icons a load of people could have.

Cheers max, I will certainly take a good look through them :)
I am looking for something like this:

But at $125 USD its a bit much considering I only want half a dozen of them :s
Youll find plenty of open source networking icons thatll work just fine. Make sure to stay legal, Im sure theres a way to indicate in whatever copyright, that it excludes the icons which are open source. ;)
The NuvoX icons from the KDE art site are especially shiny and tacky:

Yup, if youre using them theyll either be creative commons or GFDL, youll need to include the text of these licences in either your installer or app bundle. :)
