Usually they are easy enough to replace with a soldering iron and a solder suck device.

Theoretically it could also be the psu plug which tends to go more often. Replacement parts are usually available from Maplins.

Not many places repair down to components on PCB.
Though, it does make you think if they specialise in laptops.

Hes right, they should call themselves upgrade and maintenance. Bunch of jokers.

What are the chances you just have a loose connection rob?

not very likely.

however i did notice the solder joint was dry, it looked like a rust residue around teh solder joints. i was reccomended to just remelt the solder as its an electro chemical change.

its seemed to have worked but is very dodgy atm, when i first booted it after reassemble it cut out on the bios screen, second boot i managed to get it into windows (mini party in my head) and then died for a few hours.

this morning i am able to post on the internet and use everything i wanted. mobility still might be an issue as i needed to clear the bios to get the powermanagement to function. however with a full charge and a proper shutdown yesturday night, it wasnt needed this morning.

did i mention i was fantastic?

Usually its best to add a little more solder when you do that. TBH its probably been weak since you bought it.

mmm interesting.

well the placement on the board the power socket is smack inbetween the processor and the graphics card. tbh i am surprised its lasted this long when ive been caning it with rendering.

lesson learnt lol

well it wont boot now. seems wierd as it was working last night, the power supply cut out. i think its time to resolder it with some fresh. see what happens. but tbh i dont need this atm, i have a modelling project due next week and i have an exam tomorrow, which everyone is getting in a flap about.

fock.
