I have no interested in leaving Virgin TBH, why would I, when they have the most open/hacked system in Europe?
just I had a problem with my modem packing in. They couldnt get an engineer out to me for a week so I said cancel my account, I can get sky installed quicker than that. - All I wanted was the modem dropped off & told them im more than capable of installing it. Luckily, NTL share the same depot as me for returning faulty parts, so I managed to arrange with them to release one out of their stock.. I said that will do until my 28 days notice is up. They then put me on hold & a minute later offered me 1/2 price for 6months.

Thing is, Im paying 1/2 price for 2mb but getting 10mb speeds :-D
I think my last bill was £22 for 3months as I forgot to pay for 2months & they chucked on £10 late payment fee!

I dont have a dirty modem, but do I have several dirty TV Boxes.
Ill be setting up a dirty modem when the house is ready. Its only going to be used purely for VOIP though. - But im also getting Sky HD when the house is ready... I WANT MY FOOTBALL IN HD!
Spoke to Sky & they tested my VOIP Line & Said that it will work fine with a Sky Box :-D
I have no intentions of having a standard Telephone line as I dont use the phone often. I have 600mins a month free on mobile & I barely use 100mins

I work for Virgin Media and all I can say about this upgrade is that in quite a few areas its a very bad idea....

hcked firmware ot give you maximum bandwidth available.  Im told you can make them Syncronous(SP) as well.  I cant see its worth the risk when they do upgrade the network and put decent monitoring software in.

hacked... cracked... just like you get chipped NTL boxes, you can get chipped modems that allow you to access cable for free.

You dont need a subscription just need to have a cable terminating in your house. :)

Theyre not chipped or hacked. They Clone the Config of a subbed modem

I think they should go look at their own installation engineers (or whoever the work is subcontracted out to) - the one around here will supply & install 2x dodgy boxes (the new PVR ones as well!) for £150!

Well they rolled it out here a few weeks ago and I cannot bloody well use it :(

My SB4100 modem crawls up its own bottom and dies if I try to dl @ 20mb for > 5mins constant :( By the feel of the modem it is over heating :(

I put in a request for a new modem 3 weeks ago but I have still not heard anything AND Virgin have now moved their Cable support line over to a premium rate number :(

It isnt the modem

Virgin seem to be clamping down on number of connections, if you have lots of connections open (ie torrents connecting to lots of people) the connection throws a wobbler

Also with the new limits on downloads the remote settings change on the modems is causing random modem problems as some of the older modems dont like having the settings changed alot
