powercut sat morning killed my m/b :-(
anyone know where I can get a version one (socket 775) "asus rampage extreme" ???
if I can get another identical board I should be able to save my raid array.....
if not I could try another board with the same raid controller.... but I have 5 drives in raid0 and not many boards have enough ports :-(
google/ebay isn't finding anything for me :-(
I'd take the opertunity to upgrade... but I've got a core2duo running at 4.4gig so don't think I'll see much improvment with an i5/i7 ?

The ICH9R raid controller is on loads of board so that might be worth a look.
That was a mega expensive board IIRC :( I doubt you will find a replacement easily, IMO cut your losses and upgrade to a i5 2500 it is a worthwhile upgrade even from 4.4GHZ , most chips hit 4.6- 4.8 GHz on air more on water, get a SSD for your boot drive and it will piss all over your Duo setup tbh. :yarr:
yeah.... can;t remembet how much it was when I bought it... but it was the most expensive board I'd ever seen... the first m/b ever to be manufactured with water cooling as standerd ! (whcih is why I bought it)
any recomendations on a good board for overclocking ? or just any of the high end ones ?
i5 2500k ok ? (only one I can see with the 'K' for unlocked)
(it's either that or an i7 2600k)
there's one nice c2d board on ebay, used but comes with all the waterblocks aready etc... so I've put an offer in on it and I'll see how it goes.... guy wanted £160 for it ! (used)
I must be getting old.... I'm running from an old laptop connected up to my screen/keyboard/mouse.... and it's not that bad....
I can't believe you had a power cut, you never have issues. Are you sure it's not just the PSU that's gone?
Also, I'm with DEViANCE, just find a board with the same RAID controller and it should be able to recover it with any luck.
whole areas was blacked out for about 30min on sat morning.... and I tested with everything disconected, and with a different psu and I still have problems...
i had some problems before it stopped working... it was reporting the raid array failed... but i messed about for a bit and it started working again... but then it kept loosing all the bios settings etc... which points to the m/b too !
either way, with everything disconected and 2 different psu's it must be the m/b or the cpu!
Thats pretty crappy then. Maybe its worth just changing the BIOS battery as a last resort, in case thats gone? You never know you might at least get it running long enough to recover some data.
Do you not use a surge protector at all? The belkin ones come with attached device warranty of something like £40k

nige I'm pretty suire the board it totaly dead... when I turn it on, it powers up for a second, and then the PSU cuts out with a flashing warning light to say something is wrong / shorted out :-(

already water cooled, and has the same raid controler as the board I have, so hopefully my raid array will carry over !
I'll upgrade properly once SSDs come down in price.... need about 300gig as a boot/programs drive to make it really usefull/easy :-)

I'd go for one of the Asus P8P67's and a 2500K, just make sure its a B3/Rev3 revision (they all should be now).

I always prefered gigabyte.... had less problems with them in the past... but I guess they're all pretty much the same now ?

I lent my good laptop to my niece, and have a half decent one at work.... only one I have at home is a 1.7celron with 1gig of ram.... and win7 installed on it... it crawls along slow.... every time I change tabs in IE there's a good 10 second delay while it thinks about it :S
