Title: Bandwidth costs - £200 p.a. for 15Gb pcm.
Post by: Eagle on October 22, 2006, 01:38:22 AM
Ã,
How much should UK bandwidth cost?

Im being charged Ã,£200 per year for 15Gb monthly b/w and 400Mb diskspace.  Additional bandwidth above my current limit is charged at Ã,£25 per year per single Gb.

Is this right?

No, shift immediately to the US. Have a look at http://www.godaddy.com for a supprise.

100GB space and 1,000GB bandwidth for under $7 a month, comes out to about Ã,£4 month.

IF you must have the space in the UK shop around. My etglobalsolution account costs Ã,£14.95/year for  500mb storage and 5GB month bandwidth.

Ã,

but a few months ago ETGS seemed to be non-existant or at least the support seemed to be.

Took me 2 months to get a confirmation that my account had been cancelled despite several emails. I think in the end it got cancelled because I had refused to pay the invoice.

I use United Hosting (http://www.unitedhosting.co.uk/) which is both UK and US based.

Ã,£300 per year for reseller package including 5Gb space + 50Gb bandwidth per month. Been with them for several years now.

and I use  http://www.i-websolutions.co.uk/

Costs about Ã,£50 a year for what you have.  Additional bandwidth is not that expensive either.  Have had great success with them; their support team respond to emails very quickly!  Would highly recommend.

500MB
50Gb
As many SQL dBases as you like, uses CpanelX and has a decent mail filter on it.

http://ihostwebservices.com

Only a little company, but his service is excellent and its a fully managed webserver, with something like 15 minute response times on it.  Been rock solid for me any many others.  ive used the "big" companies, and i dont like them.  I think it pay about Ã,£140 a year for that package, not the cheapest, but the extra cash is worth it.

basically he has no set prices, he customises his prices to what you need.  My server laod is higher than average, hence i pay a little more.  Ive been involved with similar forums previously and they where a nightmare because the hosting company would be on our backs constantly about the fact we where putting too much load on the CPUs.

edit : Just checked, its USD$140 not GBPÃ,£140

The answer was simple in the end: ban Google.

They were stealing 9Gb of bandwidth per month just with bots.

Twats.

Your bandwidth allowance is still small for the price they are charging.
