iPlayer works with 64 bit Vista?

The Wii thing is cool, but at the same time a little redundant for those of us with the Wii connected to the TV that also has Sky+ heh!

If I was in the Uk it would work. When was the last time you used it? Since all that they changed it to a flash based affair through your browser thus working in firefox and also version for iphone and touch now.

The thing that gets me here.

The number of people watching these shows without a TV or  TV license.

There is no way to check, there is no way to stop them, yet in a way they are getting a better service than people who have a tv and watch bbc through freeview.

I really think the licence fee should be scrapped, or you need to have an account linked to an address to watch the iplayer.

Tis getting to the point where the only things worth watching on tv are free to watch on the net without a licence.

Works fine here, if you are using the 64Bit version of IE though itll not work.  Need to use a 32Bit browser.  So either standard IE, or Firefox (the beta is a faster than a Scouse bird on a weekend!)

streaming is just a flash client, will work on anything flash works on.

downloading however requires the client installed to download and delete content

lovely drm stuff that only works on windows and the client only works on 32bit windows.

you can use streaming iplayer on most things.

just funny that you get better quality streams on the iphone/ipod touch as they have h.264 files

I just spoke to roger up late as well in the UK, he is on 64bit and he uses the iplayer and it works fine

Had a look at it on my Wii tonight seems to work well, streamed a couple of shows with no issues and was perfectly watchable  :) but quality isnt as good as streaming to PC and making full screen and having to move the screen around to get at the controls once I had zoomed in was a bit fiddly, but I would imagine that would become easy after a few gos, so I would still choose PC over Wii at the mo.

They say on the iplayer site
QuoteiPlayer on Wii is still in beta, and over the coming weeks well tweak the video encoding rates and playback window size to get the best possible video quality.
so if there able to get it near to PC quality it should be great and a further excuse to buy a Wii :)
