I think Ive asked this, I cant find it.
There was a thread on this (I started it) a while back... mighta got nuked.
I use Be24 Unlimited - really cant complain its fing fast. Theyve been bought out by o2 (quite a while back now tho) although it hasnt affected the service yet. At InternetWorld o2 had a presentation where they mentioned Be24 and said they wouldnt be going down the Orange route of free broadband instead offering it as a paid for premium service so the quality should remain hopefully.
They also do another package now, although thats 40 quid a month, but you get 2.5mbit upstream.
I connect at 18mbit down, 1.3mbit up and regularly see download speeds through newsgroups of 1.7-2.0Mb/sec. I download anything between 100-400Gb a month. TBH its fast enough to stream HD! The 1080p trailers on the Apple site start playing straight away.

I remember now, what BT setup do u have.
thanks.
do you need to use their hardware, or can you bolt your own to it?
Im moving soon, and i know be have unbundled all my local exchanges.
mmm, we need to change..... got a link ?

Here in Japan, 24mbit is considered slow :P

Japan is the world leader in Technology, I expect B/b is in that bracket.

Not 100% sure check/ask on their forum.
They send you a ADSL2+ modem/4 port switch/802.11 B/G box which isnt that bad tbh.

Just the usual 11 quid a month line rental package.
I pay 35 a month in total (BT line + 24quid for Be24)
Even with ADSL2+ you are at the mercy of the quality and length of your local loop. I imagine Kunal is fairly close to the exchange to be able to get that speed. (bastaaard! :D) If you are 1-2 km from the exchange youre probably looking at 1/4-1/2 of the up to 24 speed. Check for your distance at www.samknows.com
woohaha
the main exchange building for this area is over the road and 2 houses to the left ;-)
pretty well discuised too, looks just like a house !

Im 0.6 miles from my exchange.
If you look on the Be24 forums I dont think youll see anyone connected slower than 12mbit though. I think around the 14 mark is average.
Its very rare to see above 20mbit, even if youre very close from what Ive heard.
I remember paying £50 a month a few years back for 4mbit....
Depends if you need it of course, around the 4mbit mark is probably generous for most.... I only need it because I crave all the HD content out there :) Oh theres so much mwahaha.
I was staying in a hotel in Tarbert on Harris, in the Western Isles last week, one of the remotest parts of the UK. Their broadband link didnt work (guess what, BT was their ISP), but their router showed their dsl download connection speed at 7.5 Mb, on ADSL Max. Telephone exchange....50 yards away
